I think we all(or almost all) know of the Predators. Big hulking galactic hunters that seem to get hard ons for seeding bug-like aliens on innocent worlds for their own personal hunts. Here are stats I cooked up for 'em, taking from movies and the graphic novels(by way of a friend, so... blame him. :) )

Predator

Take a look at:
Predator: Cazador de Trofeos (http://members.toast.net/talien/michael/freebies/indexpredator.html)
Uses the rules for D20 Modern, but you could get really nice ideas...

I'd think predators would be lawful neutral, not lawful evil...and predators are not stupid (they're just as smart as humans) and definitely wiser.

...I mean really, do you think a race that has invented a device that can make them invisible is going to be stupid?

I have to say I really dislike this yautja writeup.

I have to agree. A person would be hard pressed to exceed my fanaticism for Predators, but this write-up has a few gliches (in my humble opinion). Speed - 75'? They're fast granted, but not that fast. 40' due to heavy musculature. Speaking of which. I'd give them a Str 22 or 24. This puts them at +4 to +6 (similar to Goliath and I do agree with the powerful build feature). AMGriffin's right abouth the intelligence and wisdom - roughly equal to a human. Con and dex are good. Nix the DR/Magic since Danny Glover about blew the young hunter in half with a riot shotgun. Maybe DR 3/- ala barbarian. And any lawful alignment would work, although evil and good would be rare. Griffin called it again with Neutral. As for the Yautja metal... Light? Yes. Strong? Yes. +3 AC above conventional armors? Nah. I tried to create one for another game system one time (better technological fit), but when I reviewed it a year later I found that my love of the character overshadowed my creative common sense.

yeah, this is where the 'blame him' comes into play... I seem to recall him saying they weren't that bright last time we were talking about stats for yautja... course, I suppose that could be reflected just in a low wisdom score... he said they were 2-3 times faster than humans, so I decided to split the difference and say 2.5... as to strength, my friend says that in a comic, an average representative of the race threw a T-Rex, a 6 ton reptile, a feat requiring a strength of at least 40.

most of the stuff is just interpretation of my friend and wikipedia, so I chose DR 10/magic because most sources say they're near impervious to small arms fire, most small arms have an average damage of 4-8, and as monster dr is usually in multiples of 5... I rounded up to ten.

wisdom and int... yeah should prolly be up-ed a bit... maybe just a penalty to cha...

I'm not even sure if they're worthy of a penalty to CHA. Charisma has nothing to do with being pretty, and yautja are a proud hunter race, not the charisma penalty type.

You could still give them a CHA penalty though based on the fact that Yautja dislike and disfavor the use of magic, viewing it as nothing more then cheap parlour tricks however.

A few things to consider for Yatuja

Ability bonuses: STR: +4 DEX: +2 CON: +4 WIS: +2 Yautja are much larger and stronger then human beings, notorously durable, and mentally keen and aware.

NA, pretty high too, a GATLING GUN that would blow a human in half just breaks Yautja skin, not even enough to cripple them.

Jump and climb bonuses (maybe even the leap ability and spider climb)

The fact they have infrared vision (NOT darkvision which is like our vision but black and white)

Weapon proficiencies with spears and wristblades

Damage reduction (they quite literally shrug off and can more or less ignore wounds that would kill a human being)

Fire resistance and an immunity to damage from hot weather (they are able to withstand like 800 degree farenheit or so IIRC.

Weakness to cold. Despite the stupid BS that you see in AVP (I hate Paul ANdersen) with Predators in the arctic it is BLATANTLY stated Predators favor very hot climates and don't like the cold. I'd suggest lowering their land speed, lowering their dexterity by four points when they are in temperatures cold enough for there to be snow, and overall suffering a penalty on any save against any kind of cold in general.

Favored Class: Ranger easily. They're hunters after all.

They're going to have a pretty high LA.

I'm pretty sure the DR is a property of their armor, not their skin.

And speed 75? No. Just no. They might be fast, but they should not be able to outrun a cheetah.

Glory Device: Predators believe in taking the enemy with them when they perish. This is a powerful explosive device located in one of the Predators wrist gauntlets. A Predator activates the device when mortally wounded (-1 Hp or Less). The item has a 4 round countdown, and detonates on the Predators Initiative count on the 5th round. The coundown can be cancelled by the Predator as a free action. Non-Predators make a Int Vs.DC 20 to deactivate the bomb, or can sunder it, which also cancels the countdown. The device has Hardness:5 and 10hp.

Cloaking: The Predators Cloaking device obscures the Predators body, making it difficult to percieve. This grants the Predator Concealment (20%) and a +10 Bonus to it's Hide checks. This device shuts down temporarily for 1d4 rounds when exposed to water or when the Plasma Caster is fired. Int vs. DC 20.

I must say, you gentlemen have brought up some damn fine points. And Meix, I think we might just be a match for one another in terms of fanaticism. I was trying to advise Prak on their stats, and also give a estimation, even dropping down my own personal beliefs about these brutes.

However, I think that the CHA penalty should be changed. Here's why:

They're proud and noble in their own eyes and ways, however, to us they're egotistical sons-of-female-dogs, uglier than hell, and we can't even understand, or begin to understand their native tongue. They're also short tempered, and don't think highly of any other species.

INT and WIS:

Intellgence I feel is fine, though it could be increased, I won't say either way.

Wisdom is complicated. While your older Hunters, Warriors and Leaders tend to show more of it, they're still overly proud. The younger ones are far too brash. Wisdom is the ability to use your knowlege and intellect in effective ways at the right time. How often do we see them do something thus? Rarely. I feel it should be lowered, but not penalized.

That aside, Prak, you've done a damn fine job. Probably better than something I would have come up with, due to my bias.

and don't forget that I know the system better, Blacktechknight. :)

I'll prolly revise the stats tomorrow... don't feel up to it now...

Well Im not one to normally reply, being more of a lurker myself, however I wanted to raise a few points. First of all, if this were to be done "correctly" a baseline would need to be found. The portrayal of predators by book, by movie, and by comic (::shudder::) have very varying traits. Personally I would go by most books, as imo they tend to have a good deal more thought put into them, than a 1 shot action movie or at the hands of comic artists.

In most books, ranging from Forever Midnight, to the awesome "Prey" trilogy, they seem to be relatively tame, at least in comparison to the comics. They are fast, and acutely aware of their environments. Furthermore quite often in the books they are portrayed as un-intelligent. From memory I can recall characters frying predators using their own ships, preds setting off chain reactions that bring disgrace upon them and their hunt, and quite frequently getting in over their heads and falling into fairly obvious traps. Their logical reasoning is severely limited, more than likely enough to warrant a penalty to intelligence. As a matter of fact, they keep a few slave races around just to fix their broken toys for them, and invent new ones. Most of what a predator carries has been improved upon by a differant race.

The predators are also quite xenophobic, as we all know. However this even extends to those who have earned their "respect". In the prey trilogy, a woman bloods herself, and ends up leaving the planet to hunt with the preds. Long story short, she began learning the intricacies of their hierarchy. Although she was blooded, and had proven her worth on several trips, she was frequently relegated to the middle of any hunt, the safest place to be. Which was also where one was least likely to bring honor upon themselves. This shows that even one who has proven their worth and place in their society but not of their blood will not be treated with what respect is due. Thus I believe the cha penalty will be justified.

Another final note; predators have a natural gland in their bodies, which quite frankly drives them into a blood lusting frenzy. They fear it, and will do whatever they can to keep control over it. Predator will even turn against his mates and young while so enraged. Something akin to a frenzied berserkers frenzy might be useful for replicating this. (Though as an important note, physical damage alone is -not- enough to incite it)
