For my 1st lvl rogue would improved initiative or sacred strike be better to take?

Sacred strike deals d8 instead of d6 dmg on sneak attack dice against evil aligned creatures and your SA dmg is treated as good aligned for dmg reduction.

I would think sacred strike wouldn't start paying off until later ... consider it for level 6 or later ...

Agreed.

You'll see a much more immedate (and consistent) benifit from improved Int then Sacred Strike at low levels.

I'd have to agree. Sacred Strike won't help till later. Improved Initiative helps NOW.

As far as sp abilities go, Improved Evasion is very nice, Methinks.

I know i just edited my post to reflect that since it is kind of an obvious choice.

As far as sp abilities go, Improved Evasion is very nice, Methinks.Actually, Improved Evasion is a lot weaker than regular Evasion. Characters who get Evasion / Improved Evasion generally have excellent Ref saves, so are a lot more likely to pass than fail saving throws. IE mainly acts to reduce damage when you get unlucky (or careless). A similar critique applies to Defensive Roll, though moreso. Slippery Mind is more useful, since a rogue is more likely to fail saving throws vs enchantments.

In contrast, Crippling Strike is a powerful offensive capability, and Opportunist is a good way to get extra attacks.

You may also consider taking Combat Expertise and Improved Feint. Better AC in rough situations and no need to flank to get a SA. Just make sure you have many ranks in Bluff. :)
