Improved Buckler defense states you can get the AC bonus and still attack with you off hand. What about 2 weapon defense (or improved TWD) and improved buckler defense. It seems that those would stack? |
| Cartigan03-26-07, 12:04 PM | I have no idea why that would stack. You are either blocking with a buckler or parrying with the offhand. But I suppose it could stack due to armor simplifications. |

Benefit When wielding a double weapon or two weapons (not including natural weapons or unarmed strikes), you gain a +1 shield bonus to your AC. See the Two-Weapon Fighting special attack. When you are fighting defensively or using the total defense action, this shield bonus increases to +2. Special A fighter may select Two-Weapon Defense as one of his fighter bonus feats. as you see (emphasis), you can't stack with another shield bonus (the one from the buckler) |

| Bopple03-29-07, 04:18 AM | One thing to note; There is a similar feat(Twin Sword Style) in PGtF, which stacks with a shield. |
| GreyStar03-30-07, 08:45 AM | On the Tw0-Weapon Defense vs Improved Buckler Defense, I tend to recommend going with the Buckler. It only gives +1 vs Two Weapon Defense's eventual +3, but the buckler can later be enhanced with magic properties, while an effective shield bonus cannot. Although, if you're patient, you can simply wait it out and buy an animated shield. |

| Leress03-30-07, 04:37 PM | yah, but you're still considered wielding the shield while it's animated ~ ACP and proficiency penalties still apply. A level of fighter will fix that right up. |
| MingThing03-30-07, 08:15 PM | the thing thats nice with a magical buckler, is that its masterwork, and thus one less ACP, wich if i dont remember wrong, totals to 0 for the buckler. And if u go 4 to weapon defence, u can stay at +1 on the buckler, and insted give it other enchantments that improve other things, like resistances. |
| spasheridan03-31-07, 02:43 AM | I vote 2 weapon defense for the win. Greatsword + armor spikes, with the ever-popular +5 defending armor spikes. You always wield the armor spikes, yet don't need to attack with them (and take the -2 attack penalty w/greatsword) to gain the def bonus. |
