| Aggrenox03-01-07, 01:40 PM | Hello! I've been reading alot of the "fighter needs fixin" threads. And it seems that one of the options is don't change the flavor of the class. So I won't even touch the class here are some feats that mike make staying in fighter worth it. The "Feat Trees", are feats them selves and must be purchased as normal. The abilities below are funtions of the over all feat. Feat trees may only be selected with fighter bonus feats. These feats scale, by the amount of fighter bonus feats that the fighter owns. These feats move to the next tier of power after the fighter gains his second bonus feat after purchasing them. Prerequisite: Fighter level 1 Weapon Master Feat Tree The Fighter has an innate ability that increases weapon damage. Tier 1 The Fighter receives a +1 bonus on weapon damage. Tier 2 The Fighter receives an additional +1 bonus on weapon damage (+2 total). Tier 3 The Fighter receives an additional +1 bonus on weapon damage (+3 total). Tier 4 The Fighter receives an additional +1 bonus on weapon damage (+4 total). Tier 5 The Fighter receives an additional +1 bonus on weapon damage (+5 total). **************************************** ************************* Combat Style Tree When selecting this tree, the Fighter must choose the Sword and Shield, Two Weapon Combat, Two Handed, or Archery Style. This choice is permanent. Tier 1 If the Fighter selects Sword and Shield, Your shield’s shield bonus is increased by 1 when you wield it. Also when performing a shield bash, you do not take any penalty’s to armor class. If the Fighter selects Two-Weapon combat, he is treated as having the Two-Weapon Fighting feat, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites for that feat. If the Fighter selects Two Handed Style, he is treated as having the Power Attack feat, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites for that feat. If the Fighter selects Archery, he is treated as having the Rapid Shot feat, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites for that feat. Tier 2 If the Fighter selects Sword and Shield, Your shield’s shield bonus is increased by an additional +1 when you wield it. If the Fighter selects Two-Weapon combat, he is treated as having the Two Weapon Defence feat, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites for that feat. If the Fighter selects Two Handed Style, he is treated as having the Cleave, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites for that feat. If the Fighter selects Archery, he is treated as having the Precise Shot feat, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites for that feat. Tier 3 If the Fighter selects Sword and Shield, Your shield’s shield bonus is increased by an additional +1 when you wield it. If the Fighter selects Two-Weapon combat, he is treated as having the Improved Two-Weapon Fighting feat, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites for that feat. If the Fighter selects Two Handed Style, His power attack feat adds an additional 1 point of damage per point of base attack subtracted with Power Attack. If the Fighter selects Archery, he can get one extra attack per round with a ranged weapon. The attack is at your highest base attack bonus, but each attack you make in that round (the extra one and the normal ones) takes a -4 penalty. You must use the full attack action to use this ability. Tier 4 If the Fighter selects Sword and Shield, Your shield’s shield bonus is doubled when you wield it (before adding any bonus from Combat Style Bonus Feats. If the Fighter selects Two-Weapon combat, he is treated as having the Greater Two-Weapon Fighting feat, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites for that feat. If the Fighter selects Two Handed Style, His power attack feat adds an additional 1 point of damage per point of base attack subtracted with Power Attack. If the Fighter selects Archery, he is treated as having the Greater Improved Precise Shot feat, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites for that feat. Tier 5 If the Fighter selects Sword and Shield, Your shield’s shield bonus is doubled when you wield it (before adding any bonus from Combat Style Bonus Feats. If the Fighter selects Two-Weapon combat, he is treated as having the Greater Two-Weapon Fighting feat, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites for that feat. If the Fighter selects Two Handed Style, he is treated as having the Supreme Cleave feat (adapted from master samurai), even if he does not have the normal prerequisites for that feat. If the Fighter selects Archery, Once per day, the Fighter can make a single attack at his highest attack bonus. This attack is treated as a line effect with a range equal to the range on the bow that the Martial adept is using and there is no saving throw. Each target in the line is attacked using the same attack result as the original attack. **************************************** ************************* Unnescapable Foe Tree The Fighter can be a very hard foe to escape from. In order to take any of the Bonus Feats in this tree, the Fighter must have at least one Bonus Feat from one of the other trees. Tier 1 Taunting Blow: The Fighter can as a standard action, make an attack on a single foe at his highest attack value. If the attack hits, the target may not make any movement other than a 5' step Next round. The Target may make a will save to avoid this effect. The DC is equal 10+ Half the Fighter's level + Charisma modifier. Tier 2 The Fighter can use Taunting Blow as part of a charge. Tier 3 The Fighter can make a free intimidate check to demoralize foes if he hits with his Taunting Blow. Tier 4 Once per round, if an enemy that is threatened by the Fighter moves, the Fighter may make a 5' step. This does not provoke attacks of opportunity. Tier 5 You may use the Taunting Blow Bonus Feat as part of a full attack action. |

| Palazzo03-01-07, 02:59 PM | they lookreally good, to bad all it really is is an excuse to put more power on the fighter for less cost. greater two weapon fighting? double your sheilds AC bonus(towershield much)? yeah, 1 feat to get several high end feats you don't qualify for? it's a bit TOO powerful. |
| Aggrenox03-01-07, 03:12 PM | I could see how some people wouldn't like it. I know I effed up Tier 5, I'll fix it when I have me books on me, unless someone can suggest a feet to throw in there. Also, this is supposed to be an alternative for people who don't think the fighter is powerful enough. |
| aelryinth03-01-07, 07:35 PM | 1) You need to qualify them as Fighter Bonus feats. Ergo, you can't take them with General Feats. 2) If you want them to scale, you must tie them to a mechanic other then Fighter class levels. I suggest Fighter Bonus feats. Don't be put off by naysayers talking about feat imbalance. Feats ARE imbalanced. Scaling feats are rare and should be more in use. The whole ToB manuver system is nothing more then a scaling/stackable feat system. Fighter Bonus feats should be at least that effective...if not quite so abusable as the stacking effects of Inheritor feats, heh! ===Aelryinth |
| Leress03-01-07, 07:59 PM | Shield don't grant armour bonuses, the grant shield bonuses. |

| Ellanon03-01-07, 08:21 PM | I long time ago Lady Ishtar of these forums posted several feats to help fighters later in the game. I have archived them on my website - http://www.liquid-fi.com/fighterfeats.php - and hope they help. Enjoy! |
| hreslingozer03-01-07, 08:36 PM | Other than the Archery feat, which looks very nice, I don't see much overpowered here -- well, maybe at low and middle levels, but certainly not high levels. The problems with fighters in terms of power are at high levels. For that, you need powerful high end feats -- not just stacking bonuses. |
