I've tinkered up a conversion of the 3.5 to SAGA system, but wondered if anyone knows of other suh conversions, or "semi-official" conversions to compare? :)

I don't know if there are any "official" conversions but you may want to look at the conversion documents for going from the StarWars Revised Core Rules to the SAGA edition.

Wholesale conversion is difficult but the things that may be easiest to convert are probably:
1. Consolidated Skill system
2. Remove Itterative Attacks for Damage Increase
3. Level Based Defense

StevenO,
thanks for replying mate :)

I'm just dealing with skill changes not combat ;) I much preffer the Saga system, in general and lot of it it's easy: Spot/Search = Perception etc. But be nice if there was officla system as it were because it would be easier for character sheets, other games etc.

Way I figure it is:
1) D&D is*NOT* sci-fi/SW, thus knowledge based skills msut remain seperate as knowledge is hard to come by.
2) make a seperate skill "Monster lore" for knowledge on creatures. It's silly as is.
3) Give each class a certian number of skill "points" to spend as the player chooses on their skills, rather than the patently ridiculous "class skills set as stone" as we have now. For example, WTH would a Roman legionary type have "Ride" as a class skill? Spot (Perception) or such is far more appropriate.

Changing to a SAGA like skill system means one of two things. One is you use the untrained/trained/focused + level modifiers like they do in SAGA. The other thing is do you just use the condensed skill set and keep making your PCs assign skill points each level.

Even in SAGA all those Knowledge skills are separate although there are fewer than in DnD. Grouping other skills isn't so hard.

Acrobatics = Balance, Tumble, Escape Artist
Sneak = Hide, Move Silently, Pick Pockets
Perception = Search, Spot, Listen, Sense Motive
I'm sure the rest aren't too hard to reduce either.

As I said before the closest you may get to "official" conversions is the SAGA Edition Conversion Guide which should be available on the SW page. The guide has two pages showing which RCR skills line up with which SAGA skill
