A Balance Issue for non wotc Feats? [Archive] - Wizards Community

I've found a couple of feats from non wotc sources that I rather was intrigued by, but being a nonwizards product, am a little skeptical of the balance Factor. I'd like the community's input on these.

The first was called Fey Soul or some such. I don't remember the requirements exactly, but the benefit was that it let you use you Charisma modifier for hit points at every even level instead of constitution.

The second one was called Weapon Bond I believe, and it allowed you to choose 1 other ability score other than strength to determine you plus to hit and plus to damage with 1 particular weapon that you had weapon focus with.

SO what does everyone think?

I think the requirements and other information about these feats are required to make a judgement.

Well, iirc the only requirements for Fey Soul was something like a Fey Heritage or Fey Bloodline. The requirements for Weapon BOnd were just weapon Focus.

non-WotC feats have always been hit or miss with balance. some are very well thought through. some are ranged threat from Quisticential (sp?) elf, which allows you to take attacks of oppertunity with a bow at anyone with in 30 feet.

Quisticential (sp?) elf

Do... do you mean Quintessential Elf?

Because that is nowhere close to the word you just spelled. But I can't think of what else it could be. Maybe Quest Central Elf. :)

To the OP: Fey Soul sound perfectly balanced to me. Fey Heritage is one of those weak feats that allows access to a bit more powerful feats, and Fey Soul is by no means overpowered by itself, at all.

Weapon Bond is less balanced, as it is a Rogue's delight to select. It's much more powerful than Weapon Finesse as you've described it, which itself is one of the better/best feats. Does it only work with a single particular weapon that you have to take 24 hours to bond with or something, or with any of a single type of weapon, such as Shortswords? The former might be balanced.

I actually believe that it was only with a particular weapon that you had to "Bond" with. I don't remember how long the bonding process was or even if it required an xp sacrifice. As for Fey Soul, would it be imbalanced to get the benefits every level instead of every two?
