a few weapon questions [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-25-07, 01:06 AM A player of mine wants to be an assassin eventually and for the time being he wants to for flavor reasons use arrows in melee as a dagger to kill his foes.

it says in the phb that you can use an arrow as an improvised dagger, does that mean that weapon focus ect work on it, it wouldn't seem like that since you're non proficient, the same thing with javelins, it says they're spears... again, I figure that's just so people can picture what they look like. The final question is when you throw a javelin are you using 2 hands to throw it and gaining 1.5 str bonus to dmg with it?

06-25-07, 01:29 AM weapon focus for a melee arrow - i'd say not. not sure about rules, it's just what i feel.
throwing a javelin - 1x strength bonus. throwing a weapon two-handed is a full-round action.
