I think I've seen a feat or alternative class feature someplace that allows aberrations as animal companions. Am I crazy or dose this exist, and if so, where can I find it?

Thank you for your time.

I've never seen it but if it does exist, I would imagine it might be in Lords or Madness.

I know there's a feat or substitution class ability for vermin in Eberron and there's an epic feat for magical beasts but that's about all I can think of off the top of my head.

I could not find a feat that does that.

The closest I could find among the prestige classes is the Vermin Keeper that gains a Vermin companion instead of an animal.

But even that is not an aberration.

I would probably allow it as a homebrew PrC, but not as a feat.

I agree with tarkin its a bit much as one feat, could work as the end of a feat chain though (I'm thinking two prequisite feats to make it balanced, Aberrant Blood and something else (not something as good as Aberrantion Wildshape though :) )

I think that it depends on how much you limit the choice of companion. How many are there apart from the Rust Monster that are even suitable as animal companions?

Hmm... Now that I think about it, it might have been a Faerun thing.

Grumman has a good point. We COULD solve the power issue by restricting it to some very weak aberattions, in a similar way to the feat Vermin Companion

But I would not allow you to just 'pick any aberration of the same HD that you could pick an animal'.

I think you are thinking of Beast Heart Adept.
