Normally when a skill is a cross class skill there are two issues:

1. The maximum number of ranks in it is 1/2 that of a skill that is a class skill (for at least one of the classes that you have)

2. It costs you 2 skill points to get one rank.

So a 5th level Mage would pay 8 skill points to max out his Concentration at 8 ranks.
But that same mage could only get 4 ranks in Hide, but it would still cost him 8 skill points to get those 4 ranks.

The Able Learner feat reduces the cost to purchase a rank for these cross-class skills.

The Mage would still only be able to get 4 ranks in Hide, but it would cost him less than 8 skill points to do that.

If this sounds interesting, buy or borrow the Races of Destiny and get the specifics for use in your game. It has pre-reqs and it tells you the exact cost per rank.

Nope. It's not OGC, therefore illegal to reprint.

Usually, but if you start as a Wizard and become a Fighter, though Concentration is cross-class for fighter, so 1 skill point only buys half a rank, the max is still Wizard levels + Fighter levels + 3, as if it were a class skill, eh?

As others've said, we can't. It's what sucks about their business model. You can't just get feats or items or class abilities, you need to get the whole book that goes with it even if you just want one thing. :(

So they shouldn't be allowed to charge money to pay the people who created it?

That would be like wanting a single recipe out of a cookbook and complaining that you had to buy the whole book to get it. If there is enough good stuff in there, then buy the book. If not, find a friend who has it.

No. What it does is erduce the cost of cc skill ranks to one skill point instead of the normal two. The max ranks in a cc skill still apply though, which is (level + 3)/2. In your case: 5.5

Quick answer: Human Paragon (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/races/racialParagonClasses.htm#humanParagon).
Adaptive Learning (Ex)

At 1st level, a human paragon can designate any one of his human paragon class skills as an adaptive skill. This skill is treated as a class skill in all respects for all classes that character has levels in, both current and future. For example, if a human paragon chooses Spot as an adaptive skill, he treats Spot as a class skill for all future class levels he gains, even if it is not normally a class skill for the class in question.

There may be other ways, but I can't think of any right now. My first thought was the Trickery domain, but that is Bluff, Disguise, and Hide, not Move Silently. If you have Spell Compendium, you can check out the domains in the back of that book (If I think of it later, I'll check for you).

Who said that? Certainly wasn't me. In fact, I said I wanted to be able to pay them (granted, in an a la carte fashion).

That would be like wanting a single recipe out of a cookbook and complaining that you had to buy the whole book to get it.

And what's wrong with that, when the only product of theirs I want is that single recipe?

I apologize for my comment, then.
