| kuwabarakei04-27-07, 08:57 PM | ranged sunder say that i can use any ranged weapon to sundering something that the enemy is holding. since it is a ranged attack how it will be resoved? The two (enemy and player) make a attack roll each or i'll use the rule for sundering objects (trying to hit the object AC)? please, i need a answer, i'm confused, it says nothing, and i think a oposed attack check from the enemy is kinda strange. (sorry for the bad english.) |

You and the defender make opposed attack rolls with your respective weapons.Done. Ranged Sunder says you make a ranged sunder attempt. That's a sunder attempt that is also ranged. The rules for sundering detail what a sunder attempt is. Sundering a weapon warrants an opposed attack roll. This applies to anything being used as a weapon (sword, bow, door, corpse (by the way, a human's hardness is zero)). "Ranged sunder" is not a new mysterious phenomenon, it's a new way to follow the same steps previously outlined. For the record, I think breaking metal shields with mundane arrows is kinda strange, but those are the relevant rules. |

Just find a comet or meteor flying close by, and (here comes the hard part) run real fast beside it, tying an arrow on it while you run. Then nudge it towards your opponents direction. There you have it, a ranged sunder. Who woulda thought? |
| Cavilier10204-28-07, 01:42 PM | naw, thats when you invest the extra 60gp in Adamantine arrows and ignore the first 20 hardness. look at all the busted armor! |
| The_Shaman04-28-07, 01:42 PM | I guess it's indeed almost impossible unless a) you have that ranged power attack thing from Peerless Archer or b) you're sundering something soft. Sundering a shield or a sword is hard, but a spell component or a (wooden) holy symbol can be easier - and no less useful - targets. |
