Does that mean that if you moved five feet, that you could only move 20 feet afterwards (If human, or other 30 foot race)? Or do you have to move half-speed for the rest of the time? Is there another DC, or DC modifier to allow you to move full-speed? |

Is there another DC, or DC modifier to allow you to move full-speed? The FAQ recommends you move half-speed during your 'tumbling move action' (aka instead of 30', you move 15') for the sake of ease of play, but you could simply have the spaces you're tumbling through count double so you're only going half-speed when you need to. For example, if you have a 30' move, and are double-moving, you could move 15' while tumbling to get past a line of people, then just move 30' if there's nobody else to tumble past. The DC modifier for full speed tumbling is +10. |

Is there another DC, or DC modifier to allow you to move full-speed? DM call on your first question, I think most just charge you for double move and let you do the 20 afterwards (I do.) There are feats and/or class abilities to do your second question. Check out Complete Scoundrel I believe. |
| InkBlot06-03-07, 01:20 AM | Does that mean that if you moved five feet, that you could only move 20 feet afterwards (If human, or other 30 foot race)? Yes. This is correct. It is correct even though some people play it differently for the sake of simplicity. Personally, I don't find it any more complicated to say that on the tumbling squares cost double. It's not like there's more math to do, or more rolls to make. |
| Southernskies06-03-07, 05:26 AM | There are some valid balance reasons for the DM choosing to apply "tumble at 1/2 speed" to the entire move action. Doing it otherwise makes "fast tumble" mostly meaningless and also renders the features of some classes, such as thief-acrobat worthless. |
| pmurray@bigpond.com06-03-07, 08:35 AM | We have it that you tumble out of a square to avoid any AAO that would otherwise be caused by moving out of a threatened square. Vertical and horizontal movement is counted as 10', diagonal movement is counted as 15'. |
