| Legdiwena11-01-07, 03:03 PM | Is there a feat to add a second ability modifier to monk ac bonus without losing the one from Wis? |
| RobbyPants11-01-07, 03:27 PM | I doubt there is, but if there is one, it'd probably be in this thread: X bonus to Y stat (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=320889) |
| dman1123511-01-07, 03:27 PM | No. You can change it to something else (only ones off the top of my head are charisma with ascetic mage, and int with kung fu genius and carmadine monk, and divine shield which is charisma, but only adds to a shield, and you spend a turn attempt to use), but a feat that adds an ability to AC? Too overpowered, at least without restrictions. |
| mvincent11-01-07, 05:26 PM | Is there a feat to add a second ability modifier to monk ac bonus without losing the one from Wis?You could take levels in duelist (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/prestigeClasses/duelist.htm). |
| StevenO11-01-07, 11:47 PM | Just because a Monk can add its Wis bonus to its AC doesn't mean it doesn't add it DEX modifier as well. There are also ways to add the Int bonus to AC as well and even CHA and CON may be possible if enough hoops are jumped through. |
| Legdiwena11-02-07, 10:59 AM | Looking at a centaur monk, got 26 ac without any items or feats added. |
| Eerongal11-02-07, 12:34 PM | ...CON may be possible... Fists of the forest from complete champion does this. It's a 3 level prestiege class that increases unarmed damage to a progression of like 1D6-1D8-1D10 over those levels, and gives your con bonus to AC akin to how a monk gets wis to AC. It also gives you a rage-like ability that adds to your dex. It has roleplaying stipulations and few penalties to work around. |
| Legdiwena11-02-07, 12:35 PM | Would that stack with monk's AC bonus? |
| Eerongal11-02-07, 12:39 PM | yup. Unnamed bonus from two different sources. |
| Everdreaming11-04-07, 12:11 AM | Tattooed Monk with Bellflower tattoo could apply Cha mod as bonus to wisdom couple of times per day. Not optimal, but it works. |
| Dheran11-04-07, 09:12 AM | It's actually tougher to get multiple stat boosts to AC if your character is a Monk than it is with other classes. You can get the same AC benefit as a Monk with a Monk's Belt. Then you just need to find the base and prestige class combinations that work to give you other stats to AC. The "X bonus to Y stat" thread covers most of the bases, and the Duelist option to get a (level-limited) INT bonus to AC has already been mentioned. My suggestion for something that works: either a Cleric/Mystic Wanderer or Favored Soul/Mystic Wanderer. The Mystic Wanderer gets CHA to AC, and needs divine spellcasting as an entry requirement. The Monk's Belt gives WIS to AC. Cleric uses WIS as its main stat, and Favored Soul uses both CHA and WIS for spellcasting (CHA to determine number of spells; WIS to determine save DCs). Either base class will work to make a build that gets high AC from both CHA and WIS bonuses. |
| Legdiwena11-04-07, 01:40 PM | Will probably go into Fist of the Forest. AC 10+5 (Dex)+5 (Wis)+5 (Con)+ 3 Nat+4 (AC Bonus). 32 AC seems nice before applying magic items or improved natural armor feats. |
