The active shield defense feat says that you no longer take a penalty when fighting defensively on attacks of opportunity. It doesn't say that you don't take a penalty on your normal attack which doesn't really make sense. There is nothing in the errata about it and I was wondering what you guys think about it.

I think the way it's written is the way it was meant. Otherwise, you'd get a free 2AC just for taking the feat.

Fighting Defensively: -2atk, +2AC
Attacks of Oppurtunity: -0atk

Total Defense: -atk, +4AC
Attacks of Oppurtunity: -4atk

Basically, the purpose of the feat is to boost AC and still allow you to make attacks of opportunity.

Active Defense does nothing to help the attacks you plan to make but lets you get those "free" attacks with AoOs that you'd either be penalized for or not be able to take at all.
