I won't go into further detail, it being copyrighted material, but that's the relevant part. Does this feat work for the spells granted by the factotum's Arcane Dilettante ability? The ability itself is given the (Sp) descriptor, for spell-like, but the description often refers to the benefits as actual spells. It's not clear whether a factotum has proper "spell slots" as required by the feat, but it's worth noting that the term is never used in the wizard class description either. Supposing this does work, is a factotum's use of the feat significantly more powerful than a wizard's? Is "knowing" every spell on the sorc/wiz list worth more than the ability to research new ones? |

I don't see that as fundamentally different from having a spell in your spellbook -- wizards don't have "spells known" like a sorcerer, but the feat's purpose is pretty obvious in that case. You're right about sorcerers not having "slots" either. I guess "slot" is just shorthand for "the imaginary space where a spell would go." I suppose the key question is, can a slot be "the imaginary space where a spell-like ability that mimics a spell in almost all ways, and is referred to simply as a spell in many instances, would go"? |

Sounds like a DM-interpretation issue. I haven't read the factotum as thoroughly as I'd like, so I'm not sure, but if the factotum's abilities are defined as spell-like, then I'd have to say no, since they don't use spell slots. |
