Here's my dilemma:
I'm looking for a class or a series of feats that would give me all the monk-like fighting abilities, but none of the extra things like "Diamond Body". The whole reason being, I want my character to be exceptional at fighting with no weapons, but the monk background doesnt really fit my character. He isn't interested in perfecting himself or being particularly lawful. Any ideas?

Improved Unarmed Strike (PH I) - with following fighting feats (grapple, etc)

and

Superior Unarmed Strike (Tomb of Battle) for the increasing damage

...personally I also like Versatile Unarmed Strike...

Superior Unarmed Strike, from Tome of Battle, improves a character's unarmed strike according to his level, roughly along the lines of a Small Monk. (Incidentally, the feat doesn't address what happens if a Small creature takes the feat.)

Alternatively, there are a number of prestiege classes that grant the Monk's unarmed damage progression if you don't already have it.
