Whit the wording in the Exalted Book, i cant see if it is you or your DM who choose the improvement of your Ancestral relic when you improve it. Also, can i spend money on it whitout improving it? just to say i have spent it for later improvement?

And it states Weapon in the wording, but then state an armor for example, can the relic be let say a rod?

Oh. Okay, I assumed you meant the Prestige Class that feat leads into.
The feat really only gives provision for something with a numerical bonus, like a weapon, armor or shield. Since there are several rods that act as a +_ ___ mace, treating one of those as a weapon is reasonable.
Keep in mind that since rods are expensive all on their own, it will be a while before you'll be able to improve it.

At the end of The Ancestral Relic (BoED pg 41) feat the example gives a Paladin retreating to a temple for 6 days, sacrificing gold to make here relic a +2 bastard sword. This would indicate that the sacrific is during the days of fasting and prayers in a sacred place. Or do you mean to ask if you could otherwise upgrade it as a normal magic item using normal magic item creation rules? If so, then yes I guess, but why?

The example continues stating the paladin "when she reaches 11th level, she can make it a +2 holy bastard sword" implying that the PC picks the powers to add to the item.

Ancient Relic : '' Choose an item you own. The item must be of Masterwork quality, and it must be an item that once belonged to a member of your familly ''

Later they also state to the price of your magic item. Ive come to the conclusion that the sword is only an example, and weapons are most commons ancient relic, but it would be reasonnable for a Wizard familly to have an Ancient relic Rod (Provided the fact that a Rod can be Masterwork, but i see no problem whit masterwork definition either)

Now what i meant is , let say for example i have a +1 Ancestral Relic Weapon ( Worth 2K). In the example, the paladin waits to level 7 then pray 6 days and sacrifice 6K worth so it can get to +2 (worth 8k). My question is, can i let say at level 6, sacrifice 4K for a total of 6K. The weapon would not go to +2, but would still be worth 6k? So i would only have to spend another 2K to improve it?

And I still do not know if it is up to the DM choice to choose ur Ancestral relic, because he never gives us weapons that suit us, and i fear he wont want me to have this precious Greater Quicken Rod

I suppose you could ask your DM if you could "pre-sacrifice" items.

And again, the example has the paladin (player) choosing the abilities, not the DM.
