| J.B.04-27-08, 08:36 PM | I like the feat, but part of it is confusing me For first part of the feat's description everything is fine the problem I have is the second part dealing with casting defensively. I understand that by use of this feat you could also cast defensively while moving and "wounldn't" draw an attack of opportunity for said casting while "next to" or "running past" an opponent, however wouldn't you still draw and attack of opportunity for simply moving in & out of opponent's threatened areas. If that is the case then wouldn't you just simply have to make another concentration check to keep the spell (assuming you get hit at some point during your move and take damage)? Is it more about moving "into" threatened areas with a touch spell perhaps and still having a move left to get away? Also, there don't seem to be any rules forbidding someone from using "mobile spellcasting" in conjucntion with the "tumble" skill to avoid AOO, but that seems like kinda of a tall order for any spellcaster to deal with (casting while simultaneously tumbling around the battle field). Forgive me if this has already been covered somewhere, but if that is so please let me know or post me a link to it. I would appreciate it very much! |

And you could tumble while doing this, aviding the AoO for movement, but as you said, most casters aren't going to be able to be trained in tumble, so they will probably not do this. You could however move into a threatened area, cast, and move away. The AoO for movement will not interfere with the casting. |

| J.B.04-29-08, 10:02 PM | I got tumble just fine (got it through Human Paragon), but this now brings up another problem: Do I have to make another concentration chech for "violent Motion" due to spellcasting while tumbling or is another 5 points tacked onto the orignal concentration check DC to cover both casting "defensively" and during "violent motion". This is something not covered by the feat description. |
| Merestil Haye04-30-08, 06:01 AM | You make separate checks for each source of distraction. Unless the feat says otherwise there is no reason to suppose that you treat that check any differently to any other check. Thus you make separate checks for the casting and each individual distraction. |
