Is there a skill whereby a fighter-type can use the skill to call attention to him/herself in combat and thus make themself a bigger target to the enemy rather than have them focus on the squishy casters and other specialists?

I'm thinking I could "bluff" opponents into thinking I'm very dangerous, or perhaps a better use would be intimidate...

Is there already a specified skill or use of a skill for this?

There is the Knight class in the PHBII and the Goad feat in several places.

Or, of course, the crusader, which does it the best of all -- albiet, at a range of his threatened area. (Give him Goad and you've got it at a distance, too.)

The crusader, probably the best tank class of all time, is in the Tome of Battle.

My group tryed out a system where at the beginning of an encounter, all players, depending on what check had the greatest bonus, would either make a str, dex, con, or intimidate check. And the creture they were fighting would be more attracted to whoever scored highest. It worked out. . .ok. It didnt take into account the enemies intelligence which was the main problem.

The Knight class has an ability or two of this type.
