Specifically, are there any feats out there that boost your effective druid/ranger level for determining what animal companions you can get and how strong they are? Likewise for paladins in regards to special mounts.

Any other feats that help improve companions, familiars, mounts, and heck even cohorts and followers, might be helpful too. Thanks!

Natural Bond (CAd) improves your Effective Druid level by three for determining your Animal Companion bonuses. It maxes out at your HD, however. Useful for rangers or multi-classed druids. Dragon Cohort from Draconomicon allows you a dragon cohort (shocker, I know) whose effective level is three lower than normal. Those are the only ones I know.
If you're looking for something a little less straightforward, you can take Exalted Companion for a new list of AC's. There are probably more, but those are the ones I know off the top of my head.

Acquire Familiar, which I think exists in Complete Arcane, will let you attach your familar's benefits to all your spellcasting classes instead of just Wizard/Sorcerer. Improved Familiar has not only the basic list (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/feats.htm#improvedFamiliar) of upgrades, but additional options in books like Complete Warrior.

There's a Celestial Mount feat that gets your Paladin's Mount the Celestial template. This can also be gotten thru the Planar Paladin substitution level by giving up one use / week of Cure Disease.
