| Piropoint04-22-07, 02:55 AM | It's been a while since Complete Scoundrel came out. I haven't had a chance to use the Luck Feats, but they intrigue me. Anybody care to share if/how their group uses them? Underpowered? Broken? Only good for flavor? I'm curious. I'd like to hear from some Mathematicians as well. Thanks. |
| KurenaiYami04-22-07, 03:01 AM | The main antagonist in the campaign I'm running right now uses luck feats. He's also a fifth level Fortune's Friend. They are quite entertaining, especially if you make the descriptions of the luck feats reveal just how insanely lucky the person is. For example, the first time a luck feat forced a reroll on a ranged attack the PC made against the Fortune's Friend, it was because a bird flew in the way, and it hit the bird instead. The second time was in a cave, and a rock fell from ceiling and blocked it. The cave echoed with the curses of 'lucky bastard.' It was amusing, and got a few of my players to take a look at the feats. |

| Piropoint04-22-07, 05:53 PM | Seems pretty split to me. I like the concept, especially when you consider that the more luck feats you take, the more powerful they become. I wonder what a math professor would say about the overall effectiveness of X re-rolls a day of a certain check vs. adding +2 to every roll of that check. I don't know much about probability, but some of the arguments in the other post (on both sides) seem to be lacking in solid evidence. Just saying something is stupid or cool doesn't strike me as a good argument. |
