Archery Feats Clarification [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-14-07, 05:38 PM I'm building a character who uses a Heavy Repeating Crossbow as his main weapon and I was wondering how many of the archery feats in the PHb apply to the crossbow?

I'm pretty sure the following apply:
Point Blank Shot
Precise Shot
Imp. Precise Shot
Shot on the Run

But I'm not sure about:
Rapid Shot
Manyshot

Also if anyone has any suggestions for other feats I should take, I welcome those as well.

04-14-07, 05:57 PM Rapid shot would work, manyshot would not.

Rapid shot is only limited in that it is a ranged weapon and you need to be able to fire it quickly. Manyshot specifies arrows and crossbows fire bolts, not arrows.

04-14-07, 06:17 PM Rapid Shot can be used with all ranged weapons, but with thrown weapons you also need Quick Draw, and with hand & light crossbows you need rapid reload. With repeaters you can use it, but not when reloading. Many Shot is only with bows (Kevin Costner used it in Robin Hood).

Other useful feats are Able Sniper, Bowslinger, Crossbow Sniper & Penetrating Shot (especially with a rogue or a character with sneak attack).
