Are there any non-bard feats that allow you to benefit from using Perform? [Archive] - Wizards Community

I was wondering this because I plan on having my rogue take a few ranks in Perform (Vocals), and it'd be pretty cool if he got some benefits from using it in combat or otherwise. I was thinking something like a taunting song, that lowered an opponent's morale; either AC or to hit, etc.

You can make money with it, of course.

Complete Warrior has some rules for using Perform (Weapons Drill) in gladiator matches, but that's pretty specialized.

It sounds like what you're thinking about is best covered by Intimidate. You could just use Intimidate instead, or use the Intimidate rules for the Perform (vocal) skill. (If you do that, I wouldn't let you get the normal benefits of Perform (vocal), though. You'd basically be just renaming the Intimidate skill for your character.)

I think the taunting song would be very similar to the oratory class feature avaiable to 1st level evil evangelists, a PrC from complete divine. I doubt you could get that with a feat. Since what you are asking is to gain some form of special ability copied after spell like abilities gained as class features, I think you would need to have some magic type basis for your perform. othere than that I think using roleplaying and opponent name calling to alter your foes behavior is your best option.

Ah, ok, thanks. I'd better do some research on songs I can use, though. Good thing I'm in choir!

In EPH there is a feat for perform (dance)...I know you were looking for vocals, but I guess this is based on perform as well. It is Cloak Dance p. 44.

I actually thought that it might be a form of aid another, any advice on how that would work? I would like it to be some form of perform check.

In addition to Cloak Dance, there's also Combat Panache (a tactical feat from the PHB2), and there were a number of Perform (but not Bard Music)-dependent feats in Dragon #333 and #335. One, Master of Mockery (Dragon 333), used Perform(comedy) in the way you were looking for - targets focuses solely on attacking you, gaining a bonus to-hit, but losing AC in the process. Allowing a variant feat with a different verbal (can't really see someone effectively playing the drums in a suitably mocking manner) Perform skill probably wouldn't be too out of line .
