| dman1123502-07-08, 12:01 AM | How difficult would it be to make an arrow? About as hard as a spoon? Iron pot? Bell? Harder? Find that answer and you have your DC. |
| Malek299102-07-08, 12:31 AM | There is no explicit rules... Crafting arrows would use either Craft(bow making)or Craft (carpentry). An arrow seems to be a typical item, diffuculty wise, to make, so accordind to the PHB the DC would be 10. Next you need the prices... according to the PHB 20 arrows are 1 GP, so I would assume you would create arrows in groups of 20 (an individual arrow would be 5cp), then you would convert the price to SP (meaning 10sp) for weekly crafting, However since the cost is low, I'd use the daily crafting rules which would put the price in CP (meaning 100cp) so to craft a set of arrows roll a craft check after paying 1/3 the price (3sp for 20, 2 arrows would be 3cp) and if successful multiply the result by the DC and you create a set of 20 arrows. Notes: If you roll succesfully the maximum amount of time spent using the daily crafting rules is 1 day. Since the DC is 10 assuming no INT penalties you would simply be able to take 10 to finish it w/o rolling anything. Also if you want to make it slightly more realistic you could take the (result x the Dc) and divide it by 5 to determine the number of arrows you made (up to the maximum amount of money you want to pay for them since each pair is 3cp) |

| MnemonicSV02-07-08, 12:54 AM | Well... the way I see it, there are three ways you could go: A) Assume that crafting ammunition is as difficult as crafting the weapon that fires it. So, making arrows for a long/shortbow would have a of DC of 12, making light/heavy crossbow bolts would have a DC of 15, and making hand/repeating crossbow bolts would have a DC of 18. I recommend this, as it covers all forms of ammunition... even for weapons that don't appear in the PHB. Just don't ask me where sling bullets fit in under this theory, since slings don't have a craft DC. B) Assume that crafting ammunition is as difficult as crafting a "light improvised weapon," as arrows and bolts are considered to be when used in melee. Would that fall under "simple" or "martial?" You'll have to decide that... probably "simple" for a DC of 12. I don't recommend this, since some ammunition cannot be used in melee, like sling bullets. (Darn sling and it's bullets, always gumming up the works!) C) Ad hoc a DC... which, by following the train thought above, would probably fall within that 12-18 range. |
| CryoSilver02-07-08, 01:07 AM | DC 12 sounds about right to me. The hardest part of making an arrow, in my opinion, is getting the fletching right, but even then, I'm talking about modern fiberglass arrows with synthetic flights. Some might say that you'd need to make the arrowheads separately, with a DC of 15 or so (this is the most precise part of an arrow), but that's entirely optional, since you CAN make arrows without metal heads. |

| Legdiwena02-07-08, 08:37 PM | What about Craft (fletching)? |
