In the table of feat in Complete Adventurer, the description of Ascetic Rogue reads "Monk and rogue levels stack for sneak attack damage, unarmed strike sneak attack gains improved stunning DC". The full description says nothing about sneak attack damage though, and the errata does not cover this. Which is correct? The only other feat that says this in its table description is Daring Outlaw in Complete Scoundrel, and it does stack for sneak attack damage.

Text always has, does, and always will, trump tables. Use the description instead.

Wouldn't that be an awfully overpowered feat, to grant Xd6 Sneak Attack to a Monk for the cost of a feat and a level of Rogue?

17th lvl Monk: Hm, what should I do for 18th? I know, Ascetic Rogue me! *gains 9d6 SA* kkthxbye

I think pretty much every Monk in Greyhawk would have one Rogue level if that were the case.

There is a feat that allows fighter and ninja to stack, for purposes of sneak attack, bonus feats, and I think ki stuff. Now, as I stated in anouther thread, I'd allow rogue/fighter to stack for sneak attack and bonus feats.

This would make sense if it weren't for the Daring Outlaw feat:

17th lvl Swashbuckler: Hm, what should I do for 18th? I know, Daring Outlaw me! *gains 9d6 SA* kkthxbye

Daring Outlaw requires THREE levels in Rogue (2d6 Sneak Attack). Ascetic Rogue requires one.

Maybe, but swashbucklers have a lot more synergy with rogues anyway. Free finesse, int to damage, no need to boost wisdom...

Wait, does AR boost unarmed damage as well, or just SA damage?

AR boosts only unarmed damage (and not overmany rogues want to fight unarmed - can be useful at times, however)
