For example, if I wanted a dragon's breath weapon while polymorphed, would I pick: A) Dragons/breath weapons B) Copper Dragons/breath weapons C) Juvenile Copper Dragon/breath weapon Also, what is the save DC based on for SU abilities gained through this feat? Thanks :) |
| Terazul05-21-07, 07:21 PM | Based on what Ive been told from a CustServ reply (though they arent always the most reliable), it would be most along the lines of A; Choose a specific ability (Breath Weapon), and whenever you assume a form with it, you can use it. Though if your DM was really picky about it, it would probably be most like B, choosing a single form and ability, which makes the feat suck a little more (but polymorphing is nuts anyway :p). |
| risner05-21-07, 08:08 PM | A or B (DM choice) Your DC would be based on the stat listed in the effect. MM p300 has the formula, which is something similar to 10 + 1/2 the HD (so half the HD of the form you assume.) For STR, DEX, CON DC's this usually means take the save DC written in the monster writeup, for INT, WIS, CHA (if you keep the mental when in the form), recalculate based on the MM p300 formula. |
| runestar05-21-07, 11:10 PM | Why be so specific? Choose a phaerimm (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/files/PGtF_WE_Monster_Update.zip), obtain its shapechange (SU) ability (lets you shapechange at caster lv20) and you can have any supernatural ability you want...:D But I would personally go with B. |
| Someone05-22-07, 12:15 AM | I'll have to disagree and say C, provided you polymorph into a juvenile copper dragon. Whatever Su ability you pick up is limited to whatever Su abilities the creature you turned into has. A juvenile copper dragon technically has a different breath weapon (in terms of dice and possibly area) than a mature copper dragon, and has a different breath weapon than a juvenile red dragon. However, I always thought ASuA allowed you a choice every time you transformed, not once ever only when you took the feat. Otherwise, I would say D: breath weapon in general. |

Phaerimm don't have shapechange. Perhaps you're thinking of a different race? |
| CanineLord05-22-07, 04:30 AM | Thanks for the replies. What are the prereq's for Assume Supernatural Ability? (And the Improved version) Tanx |
| runestar05-22-07, 04:41 AM | Hmm...perhaps I confused it with something else...? |
