Hey.

I've been wracking my brain trying to find the feats that let you use sneak attack damage on things that cannot normally be sneak attacked; I recall there was one for each type, i.e. one feat that lets you sneak attack constructs, one feat that lets you sneak attack undead, et al.

I've looked over all of my source books from Libris Mortis to Dungeonscape and can't find them anywhere. I do recall that there was a limitation to them; like you could only do it so many times per day, and/or you could only use so many sneak attack dice.

I'm trying to use action points with my group and give my rogue player the ability to use his action points for this, but I need to find these feats first.

Thanks in advance :)

Sounds like something that would be in CScoundrel. I don't have that book so not sure. There are also augmentation crystals for weapons for some of them in MIC.

There's an alternate class feature that allows you to use half your sneak attack dice against creatures that are immune to sneak attack if, and only if, you are flanking them. It's called Penetrating Strike and I think it's in Complete Champion (though my memory is a little grey on this, so it might be in a different book).

To my knowledge there are no feats that allow you to sneak attack normally immune foes. There are spells that allow you to do so (Vine Strike, Grave Stike, Golem Strike). And as mentioned above, there are some greater weapon augmentation crystals that allow it as well, but you need at least a +3 weapon to use them and they are a tad pricy (but well worth it, IMO).

Swift Hunter; CoScoundrel for Scouts/Rangers
Allows Skirmish damage to affect Favored Enemies even if normally immune to criticals/sneak.

No other feats I'm aware of but besides whats been mentioned...
Skull Clan Hunter; PrC Minis Handbook allows sneak vs undead

Razing Strike. Complete adventurer.
Allows you to gain damage bonus and sneak attack damage against constructs or undead depending upon whether you sacrifice an arcane or divine spells.

Razing Strike. Complete adventurer.
Allows you to gain damage bonus and sneak attack damage against constructs or undead depending upon whether you sacrifice an arcane or divine spells. The razing strike feat is so terribly limited it's just crazy. Because it's a swift action, you can only use it once per round. Because you're a rogue, you are unlikely to have many spell slots available to you. If you do have lots of spell slots, they will likely be only divine or arcane, not both, because it takes class levels to get spell slots, which means the feat only opens up access to sneak attacking constructs OR undead.

Now, I suppose I can see this feat being usable for spellthieves, but they need to be able to sneak attack something in the first place in order to have available spell slots to power this feat to be able to sneak attack constructs or undead. Relying on sneak-attacking a cleric or a mage in order to be capable of sneak-attacking his minions is a VERY limiting tactic, no?

If one were to go the spell-casting route for getting sneak attacks, it would be much more reliable to just use the Vine Strike spell and its cousins. Even wands may be useful (I don't recall if those spells are swift actions lasting 1 round, or standard actions that last longer)

Other than the spells mentioned in CA, in Libris is the weapons with the "ghoststrike" (+2 bonus) ability which allow critical and sneak attack damage to undead. That would be the best thing to invest in. ;)

Dungeonscape has the Penetrating Strike ACF mentioned above, but it is crap against anything that can't be flanked. CC has both Death's Ruin and Holy Stalker, which do damage to undead.

Dragon Magic has Dragonfire Strike, which may or may not apply to Constructs, Undead, and Plants, depending on how your DM interprets it.

BoED has Sacred Strike, but it doesn't work on creatures all ready immune to crits/SA, just evil creatures.

Other than what's been mentioned so far, there are epic feats allowing you to do that (destructive strike against construct amongst other), some class feature ( I recall a type of ranger/slayer capable of dealing criticals/sneak attakcs against the plant type); i think it's in some FR books, but can't remember sorry. I also know of one race specific feat, call demolition strikes : it's a dwarf feat from Races of Ansalon (DragonLance campaign setting) and allows sneak and critical against construct. Skullclan hunter (miniature handbook) are able to sneak attack undead.

The alternate classe feature mentionned by Brehon is in Dungeonscape.

Razing strike is not that great for a thief but it's awesome for assassin, arcane trickster, daggerspell mage, any other class that increases both sneak attack and spell casting, and actually any class with one sneak attack dice and full spell casting. Remember : it adds the spell level as a bonus to hit and adds 1d6/level of spell sacrificed + sneak attack dice to ALL your attack against the affected targets for one round. An thief 5/assassin 10 who would sacrifce a fourth level spell a would get +4 to hit and +12d6 damage against a construct, and if he fight with 2 weapons he could get most non epic construct down in one round. And the damage you deal are not sneak attack damage, your SA damage simply add to the damage.

Alternative class feature- Penetrating Strike, for the rogue, either in Undermountain or Dungeonscape. There's also Death's Ruin in the Complete Champion, which I believe is identical to Penetrating Strike. The class Skull-Clan Hunter allows you to sneak attack undead.

Razing Strike is decent enough.

There are epic feats which allow you to deal sneak attacks to undead, plants, and constructs, but they were printed in Dragon and require, among other things, that you have death attack.

You guys have been a huge help, I guess I'm just remembering something wrong .. I may just allow the player to get his sneak attack bonus when he spends an action point straight off the top.

Thanks again
