Best Metamagic feats for Druids? [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-07-07, 11:02 AM This is my first caster in a really extended campaign, so pardon the newb-sauce.

Any recommendations for metamagic feats for druids? I think the first one I plan on taking (9th level) is extend spell so I can push out the lesser-vigor/vigor to mahussive healing effects outside of combat. I'm the party's only healer so I imagine that would lighten the load. Quicken, of course, is next on the list due to it's high awesomness rating...

Any other ideas or experiences with druids and metamagic?

03-07-07, 11:09 AM Um, just to warn you, you should talk to the GM about applying Extend to the Vigor spell effects. They have a capped duration, so after a certain point, extend would be pointless. But your DM may be willing to let Extend double the duration caps as well. Just make sure you clear it *before* you regret taking the feat.

03-07-07, 11:28 AM Hmm, thanks for the heads up. Is there an errata anywhere with an answer to that? The description of extend spell certainly makes in ambiguous in my mind...

Extend Spell [Metamagic]
Benefit
An extended spell lasts twice as long as normal. A spell with a duration of concentration, instantaneous, or permanent is not affected by this feat. An extended spell uses up a spell slot one level higher than the spell’s actual level.

03-07-07, 11:53 AM Soundslike it would apply just fine to me. If the duration is 5 rounds, then it extends to 10 rounds. Your question is kind of difficult to answer because the druid benefits from all the same metamagic feats just the same as any other primary caster. Extend might make your vigor spells last longer but if healing is your concern, you should just buy a wand of cure light wounds. I don't know of many metamagic spells that help with healing a lot off the top of my head because the benefit of applying empower or maximize to healing can usually be taken care of by just preparing the higher level healing spell.

Here's a thought but I can't remember the name. I believe there is a metamagic feat that allows you to cast a touch spell at a range of close. I wish I could validate that and give you a name but I can't remember.

The druid can heal but is not the best at it. Buy a wand of CLWounds and do your major healing after the battles is my advice.

03-07-07, 10:33 PM One of the best meta feats IMO is Highten Spell. Ups the dc's of all your fav low level spells. easy to qualify for and is always good.
