| ObscureInfo11-28-07, 12:33 AM | Are you talking spells or skills or feats? Spells- like enlarge, haste, bull's strength, basically anything that would boost a frontline fighter. Skills- Speak Language- Celestial and Speak Language- Infernal, to speak with the more intelligent of your summoned creatures. Knowledge:Planes to know more about your summoned creatures. Feats- EXTEND SPELL. With only 1 round/level duration, most summoning spells don't last long enough to make a difference in a fight. Extend Spell doubles that duration. Eschew Materials- So you don't have to hold the stupid candle. (or is that a focus??) |
| strenoth11-28-07, 12:54 AM | if you are a druid, Greenbound Summoning is rather good. |
| Suspect_Unusual11-28-07, 01:22 AM | Look in Cityscape for the Invisible Spell metamagic feat. At worst, your summons start off invisible and only become visible after attacking someone. At best (since the invisible effects in the example are still, by flavor, invisible even though they "attack"), you've just given all your summons natural invisibility. This feat doesn't even increase the spell level... *sigh* Why can't my kobold shaper get a feat like THIS for his constructs? |
| Darth Sephiroth12-03-07, 07:47 PM | Superior Summons from the Dragon Compendium is pretty good for summoning, lets you cast touch spells on summoned monsters and summons under its effects have Max HP. It's downside is that it it increases the material components cost (I'd countered that by adding a second feat that eliminates the cost for it and similar feats). Quicken is pretty good, if you're playing a Wizard, glance at the Conjurer (Summoner) variant from Unearthed Arcana. Also several DM's could consider making those bonus' into feat choices as they already replace feats gained. |
| littlekid12-03-07, 09:36 PM | There's a metamagic somewhere that allows you to give a summon a 2nd level or below spell...I'll try to find it. Imbue Summoning, and it's any 3rd level or below spell. |
