Boosting Diplomacy score for a 19th level character [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-11-07, 04:30 PM OK, I've noticed that Diplomacy is without question one of the 2 or 3 most important skills in reference to modules/adventures in Dungeon magazone. Let's say I have a 19th level character with max ranks in Diplomacy.

That's class level +3 = 19 + 3 = 22. Add in a +8 from Charisma (courtesy of a high score and a +6 cloak). That's +30. If you have 5 or more ranks in Bluff, Knowledge (nobility and royalty), or Sense Motive, you get a +2 bonus on Diplomacy checks.

Without taking feats, what are some other ways to boost the Diplomacy check? I know that Greater Herosim could provide a +4 boost. Any other thoughts?

07-11-07, 08:30 PM Perhaps the DM will allow "aid another" bonuses increasing it +2 each time.

A poor third level Bard could use Inspire Competence on you giving you for +2 and some related prestige classes could do better.

Convincing Demon Lord to help you without trying to kill you first is a virtually impossible task so good luck.

07-11-07, 08:33 PM Diplomacy is probably one of the easiest skills to boost.

Various spells will do it: Divine Insight (up to +15 bonus on any one skill check), Voice of the Dragon (+10 enhancent bonus), etc.

The Marshal class's Inspire Charisma minor aura (you can gain it with a 1-level dip) will effectively double your charisma bonus.

There are also some diplomacy related feats in Races of Destiny, although many of them require Half Elf (since they're the masters of diplomacy in the game). There's also one that increases synergy bonuses to +3, which will go from a +6 for all 3 synergies to +9. Obviously Skill Focus and Negotiator, as feats, will also increase it (and you'll get the Skill focus as a bonus if you take that Marshal level).
