I am busy creating an 8th lvl Scout/Tempest for our next game. I was wondering how the Tempests Two-weapon Spring Attack, marries up with the Bounding Assult feat.
Can he use both at once?
Would his attack be once with each weapon and a second with the main hand at -5? (of course by then he has no main hand)

well, tempest says you get another attack when making a spring attack. bounding assault says you get another attack when making a spring attack. to me, that looks like 3 attacks, all in all.

oh and btw. he does have a main hand. but you still got it right: 2 main (one at -5), 1 off.

I actually disagree with this though. I have always been of the opinion that when we changed to 3.5, Ambidexterity was folded into TWF.

Ambidexterity n/a Two-Weapon Fighting Two-Weapon Fighting includes all benefits

AMBIDEXTERITY [General]
You are equally adept at using either hand.
Prerequisite: Dex 15+.
Benefit: You ignore all penalties for using an off hand. You are
neither left-handed nor right-handed.

So i always thought that you have an off-hand only if you don't have Ambidex in 3.0 or TWF in 3.5. You still have to assign on hand off-hand when you attack to apply the penalties, but you are free to interchange them at any time.
Just my thoughts.

well, if we get into this, let me tell you: it ain't gonna be pretty. I've been there before, and it's pretty messy when you start digging... I'd prefer to avoid the twf/main/off discussion, actually. ;)

suffice to say, tempest itself does nothing to the "main/off" mechanic. that's what I thought you implied - I see now you didn't, so forget my comment. 1 main, 1 main-5, 1 off - that's all we really need to know here. :)
