| Lupo197708-07-07, 12:47 PM | question from the RoDr Book : can a Kobold take "Dragon Wings" at first level ? Or does he have to take "Dragonwrought" before ? i am irritated by the last sentence of the "Dragonwrought" feat decription : >> Having this feat allows you to take "Dragon Wings" at 3rd level << and by the last sentence of the "Dragon Wings" feat decription : >> A Kobold with the "Dragonwrought" feat can take this feat at 3rd level << as the kobold has the "dragonblood" subtype, he should be able to qualify for "Dragon Wings" even without the "Dragonwrought" feat - doesn´t he `? |

Yes. A Kobold HAS to take dragon wings at 1st level unless they take the dragonwrought feat. |
| Harliquinn08-07-07, 02:04 PM | The exception was noted for kobolds who *wanted* to take both, since both must be taken at 1st. The exception for the wings was that if you used your 1st level feat for Dragonwrought, you could take wings at 3rd. Under no other conditions can you take the Wings at 3rd. |
| Newdruid08-07-07, 08:37 PM | actually kobolds are classified as reptiles. they need dragonwrought to obtain the dragonblood subtype(hint hint sorcerers cant take dragon wings) |
| IMarvinTPA08-07-07, 08:45 PM | actually kobolds are classified as reptiles. they need dragonwrought to obtain the dragonblood subtype(hint hint sorcerers cant take dragon wings) This is incorrect. All Kobolds are dragonblood. See page 39 of RotD. |
| Red_Decker08-08-07, 03:53 AM | actually kobolds are classified as reptiles. they need dragonwrought to obtain the dragonblood subtype(hint hint sorcerers cant take dragon wings) They can if they take the dragon heritage feat, this grants the dragon blooded subtype http://www.geocities.com/customsmiliesbyswordmaster/inthered.txt |
| IMarvinTPA08-08-07, 07:52 AM | They can if they take the dragon heritage feat, this grants the dragon blooded subtype http://www.geocities.com/customsmiliesbyswordmaster/inthered.txt Again, Kobolds ALREADY have the dragonblood subtype. They are both dragonblood and reptile. KOBOLD RACIAL TRAITS • +2 Dexterity, –4 Strength, –2 Constitution. Kobolds are weak and frail, but their size grants them quickness. • Small: As a Small creature, a kobold gains a +1 size bonus to Armor Class, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, a –4 size penalty on grapple checks, and a +4 size bonus on Hide checks, but she uses smaller weapons than humans use, and her lifting and carrying limits are three-quarters of those of a Medium character. • Humanoid (dragonblood, reptilian): Kobolds are humanoids with the dragonblood and reptilian subtypes. For all effects related to race, a kobold is considered a dragon. • Kobold base land speed is 30 feet. • +1 natural armor bonus. • Darkvision: Kobolds can see in the dark up to 60 feet. Darkvision is black and white only, but it is otherwise like normal sight. Kobolds can function just fi ne with no light at all. • All kobolds add Craft (trapmaking) to their list of class skills. • +2 racial bonus on Craft (trapmaking), Profession (miner), and Search checks. • Light Sensitivity: Kobolds are dazzled in bright sunlight or within the radius of a daylight spell. • Automatic Language: Draconic. Bonus Languages: Common and Undercommon. • Favored Class: Sorcerer. A multiclass kobold’s sorcerer class does not count when determining whether she takes an experience point penalty for multiclassing. IMarv |
| Dalthbar08-08-07, 07:59 AM | Just to clarify, the MM doesn't list them as dragonblooded, but the Races of the Dragon book does (as posted above). But, if we're going so far as to allow the feats Dragonwrought, Dragon Blooded and Dragon Wings to the campaign, then it's just insane and obtuse not to take into account the tweaks made to the Kobold race in RotD. So if you're running a core-only game, then there's no harm in not counting them as dragonblooded. If you're running a game in which you're allowing these dragon-based feats, then you should take all of the material together, since it's written to largely work as a package and not piecemeal. |
| ToastedAmphibian08-08-07, 05:48 PM | So that means that in a campaigne that uses RotD material, you cant have any kobold vampires? |
| Vloorshad08-08-07, 09:03 PM | So that means that in a campaigne that uses RotD material, you cant have any kobold vampires? There's a template for a vampiric dragon if memory serves... Yep, check out the Draconomicon. |
| Red_Decker08-08-07, 09:51 PM | Again, Kobolds ALREADY have the dragonblood subtype. They are both dragonblood and reptile. IMarv I Apologize, I meant for sorcerers, I know that Kobolds are dragonblood http://www.geocities.com/customsmiliesbyswordmaster/inthered.txt |
