Any feats that allow spells with a range of 'personal' to be cast on allies? I'm thinking anti-magic field would be great, but that's just the beginning.

No, personal spells can only be cast on the caster.

And well they should, considering what some spells could do.

Bracelets of Spell Sharing (DMG II), sort of (spell applies to both people but at half duration).

You can share personal spells with your animal companion, familiar, special mount, and (maybe) psicrystal, but that's it.

This issue came up when I was playing a paladin/bard with the devoted performer feat. I was thinking about the possibilities of casting "alter self" on my special mount (never got that far, but anyway), since it was a magic beast, possibly turning it into a pegasus or giant owl. Another person said that casting alter self on my mount wouldn't allow me to turn it into another magical beast -- it would turn it into another humanoid, since the caster is humanoid and alter self only changes people within the caster's type.

I remembered some thread about using occular spell to cast personal range spells on other people. Would that work?:P

Personal spells can be cast into a ring of spell storing, then used by whoever you give the ring to. This is just about the only way, off the top of my head. Other more complicated ways exist, of course.... :)

I looked at it when someone was arguing that meant you could persist the Ocular spell - a conclusion I do not share, but that's mainly to do with Persist Spell and not anything to do with the validity (or otherwise) of shooting spells as rays out of your character's eyes.

(Besides how cool is that image? It would be a crime to disallow it.)

Equip it w/ some armor (give it the feats for light and med armor), and let it go to town!

On Ocular Spell
OCULAR SPELL [METAMAGIC]
Your study of the terrible powers of the beholder has given you
insight into new ways to prepare and cast spells.
Prerequisites: Knowledge (dungeoneering) 4 ranks, two
or more eyes.
Benefi t: You can cast a spell with a casting time of 1 full
round or less as an ocular spell. An ocular spell does not take
effect immediately, but is instead held in one of your eyes for up
to 8 hours. You can store only two ocular spells in this fashion,
even if you have more than two eyes. Only ray spells and spells
with a target other than personal can be cast as ocular spells. [more text after]think that probably nixes that.

So much for that theory. Back to UMD and rings of spell storing, I suppose...:(

There is a prestige class in Silver Marches (a Forgotten Realms supplement) that allows you to cast certain personal spells on another. I think it is called Spellguard of Silverymoon.

Not aware of one officially, that was why I made this one for my campaign:

Touch Spell [MetaMagic]
You may change a self-affecting spell into a touch spell.
Benefit: You may change the area of effect of any spell that has a Range of Personal to Range: Touch, Target: One willing creature touched and Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless). A touch spell is prepared as if two levels higher.

The arcane archer can do it.

how?

how?The Imbue Arrow class feature lets the character place any area spell they can cast, even one that can only be centred on the caster, onto an arrow and fire it. The centre of the affected area is where the arrow strikes.

AMF is an emanation centred on the caster.

Thus a very powerful wizard who is also an arcane archer can do it. I think we're talking about a 15th level char - say Wiz 6 / Ftr 1 / EKt 6 / AArc 2.

so instead of just saying "arcane archers can do it."

what was meant was that arcane archers can cast a few of the personal spells out there at range.

It is also debateable about whether the arcane archer can actualy "cast the personal spell on other people", because it is centered where the arrow ends up, and there are no rules for arrows sticking in people or the like. I would say, for instance that the emenation would be centered on the square the character being shot at was in, and that that character could walk out of it if so desired (and would walk out of it if they moved far enough from where they were standing when the arcane archer shot at them).
