I would even like wizards to extend this concept to any character, not just urban characters. I think that this issue has been greatly neglected by D&D game designers up to now but contributes significantly to the flavor of the game and makes your characters considerably more memorable and unique. What do think of career skills? |

Then, if you needed an information check or skill check where you think it may be applicable, you could make a case for it. This was mechanically represented as 2-4 ranks in a profession. For instance, if you were given 4 ranks in Profession(Fishing), you would get +4 to Survival checks when fishing, +4 to boating checks, +4 on knowledge checks to identify types of fish/oceanic poisons/water monsters. |
