Generally, a spell's caster level is the spellcaster's class level." Now, it does say that it involves a spellcaster, but if I'm using a spell-like ability, and have a set caster level, wouldn't that mean I still have that caster level? I dunno, I wonder if there's a FAQ entry on this. It just seems strange. I can understand if that's the case, it's just not really defined anywhere explicity as far as I can see. Also, it says, in Arcane Dilettante: "Your caster level equals your level in this character class." You'd think this means what it says it means: that your caster level is equal to your Factotum level, and thus at 3rd level you qualify for Craft Wondrous Item (which requires Caster Level 3 only, and says nothing about having to be a spellcaster class)... |

Otherwise warlocks wouldn't qualify for pretty much any spellcaster prestige class, instead of not qualify for most of them. Now, lacking the ability to make magic items without spells like an artificer or warlock, a factotum won't be making many magic items without help, but they can buy craft wands. |
