| Jeriaus06-21-07, 05:27 PM | I remember seeing a feat that let Undead add thier Cha bonus to thier HP, but I dont remeber what it was. Where is this feat? OR Im a crazy and made it up? Thanks in advance. |
| The_Shaman06-21-07, 05:29 PM | Well, I know of a feat that allows characters to get Cha instead of con to HP at lvl 1 (FR regional, mind over body, nice for casters)... I'm not sure about undead. |
| Jeriaus06-21-07, 05:30 PM | Maybe thats what it was. Serves my purposes just as well. Thanks!:D |
| StruckingFuggle06-21-07, 05:40 PM | It's called Unholy Toughness, and it's not a feat, but rather a racial trait for some varieties of undead. |
| Empiro06-21-07, 07:22 PM | I think every undead since MM3 (that also have a positive Cha mod) have had Unholy Toughness, often giving them, well...an unholy number of hitpoints. |
| cwslyclgh06-21-07, 09:07 PM | I think every undead since MM3 (that also have a positive Cha mod) have had Unholy Toughness, often giving them, well...an unholy number of hitpoints.only undead that appeared in MM3 have unholy toughness (and then not all of them), for instance none of the undead from libris mortis have it, none of the undead from MM4 have it...etc. |
| Part-Human206-21-07, 10:37 PM | The Dry Lich template (Sandstorm) has it. |
| cwslyclgh06-22-07, 01:17 AM | okay, one that doesn't appear in MM3 has it as well (there may even be a couple more) that still proves wrong Empiro's statement. |
| one_eyed06-22-07, 02:31 AM | i know it's kinda off topic, but how in the world does high charisma help you suffer less damage from a sword in the guts? |
| Meep32606-22-07, 02:48 AM | 'Cause for undead they have no con, so their cha, or their unwillingness to die, gives them more will to fight through that sword in the gut. |
| The_Shaman06-22-07, 03:23 AM | Although you don't need the gut for much anymore, I guess it helps if you think yourself too beautiful to be stopped by such a minor inconvenience. A less charismatic undead panics and realizes it has heart failure. Hence it dies. |
| StruckingFuggle06-22-07, 03:28 AM | Because if you read the game text, hit points represent more than just your body's ability to "take a licking and keep on ticking". Cha to HP can be the self-centered drive to keep going despite the road getting hard and wearing you down ... the will to fight on, as someone else said. Kind of like how Crusader strikes can heal you without magic. They don't close wounds, just bolster your will to not fall. |
| Banatine06-22-07, 04:18 AM | Unholy toughness represents how fiercly some undead cling to (un)life. The logic behind it would be the mindset of the creature being "I have felt the cold embrace of death, and I will never suffer it again!" |
| Frugal06-22-07, 08:51 AM | CHA isn't appearance, repeat it until it gets beaten into your head. If that doesn't work, try it while applying the spine of one of the D&D hardcovers to your forehead repeatedly. CHA is force of personality, contrary to what you might believe from fantasy art, the hot sorcerer chick is a better spellcaster because she bends magic to her will, not because she's hot and wearing less than a square foot of cloth on her entire body (she's doing that to avoid arcane spell failure). It makes perfect sense that an undead being who's spirit continues to remain on the material plane (possibly with a body) by virtue of his strong will to remain here should have greater HP. |
