| TygerTyger06-19-07, 11:49 AM | Time to choose a new metamagic feat for my soon-to-be 9th level wizard. Its down to these two. Any thoughts on which is more efficacious? Character usually tries to fill the "Batman" role and do all the things that others can't. Not into buffing much at this point, though Chain Spell could certainly change that a bit. And for the record, I fall into the "Chain spell does work on ray spell" camps. And that discussion is not the point of this thread. |

( no set damage, no save for some) Of course, it is so powerfull that your DM may think twice about allowing these kinds of things. (Feats like this really should have been written with the following statement 'if the spell does not do damage and does not have a save, it gets a will save negats for all secondary targets') |

If you only have 1 ray spell in your spellbook, for example split ray would be sort of a waste (or would at least cost you extra money as you went and bought a bunch of scrolls of ray spells and wrote them into your spell book). assuming about an equal number of both types of spells known I have generaly found chain spell to be a bit more useful. |
