| Narthon09-13-07, 06:50 PM | Does anyone know of a feat for a non psionic character that lets you change direction during a charge? The twisting corridors have really been messing with my leap attacking barbarian. Thank you |
| The_Shaman09-13-07, 06:53 PM | Can't say I do... maybe get one of those spells etc that give you a free move action? Other than that, I think the psionic charge feat is your best choice. It's not like one or two PW levels will hurt, anyway. |
| zorgling2509-13-07, 06:55 PM | If ToB is available, a short dip into Warblade or Swordsage could grab you the Bounding Assault maneuver. |
| j3st3r09-13-07, 07:04 PM | Fleet of Foot: When running or charging, you can make one turn of up to 90 degrees. To maintain a charge, the last 10’ must still be in a straight line. You can only use this Feat when wearing no more than Light Armor and no more than Lightly Encumbered. The feat is from Complete Warrior. |
| BugHunter09-13-07, 08:12 PM | Try fleet of foot (CW page 99). |
| Narthon09-13-07, 09:14 PM | Fleet of foot should do it, thank you. The level dips are out for two reasons. 1: I want to try to do Barbarian 20 and see how it works out. 2: Due to rolling stats and being a half-orc, all of this characters mental stats are below 10. |
| zorgling2509-13-07, 11:16 PM | 2: Due to rolling stats and being a half-orc, all of this characters mental stats are below 10. I understand the preference for a single class 20 levels, but how does this affect multiclassing? |
| Tedronai09-13-07, 11:59 PM | Note that unless this feat or special ability specifically states otherwise, you will still require line of sight (or some other method of identifying the location of the enemy such as tremorsense, mindsight, or other equally difficult to acquire powers) to your target at the beginning of your charge to gain any benefits from that maneuver (an attack after a double move, a bonus on the attack roll, extra damage from feats such as the Leap Attack mentioned, etc.) |
| ibayboy09-14-07, 03:28 AM | The Twisted Charge skill trick from CS will do it too, only 1/rnd though. I've found Boots of the Battle Charger from MIC, are a great help to my Warblade-Leap-Attacker. They let you move into position and do a single move charge. Your DM may have a problem with you changing direction mid-jump so ask about the mechanics of jumping before it becomes an issue mid-combat. |
| runestar09-14-07, 03:56 AM | The streetfighter (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20070228a) barb variant lets you turn during a charge at 10th lv.:) |
| Narthon09-14-07, 07:24 AM | I understand the preference for a single class 20 levels, but how does this affect multiclassing? Well, with low mental stats, it is hard to use psionics or the bonuses from mental stats that Tome of Battle classes use. The Twisted Charge skill trick from CS will do it too, only 1/rnd though. What is CS? The streetfighter barb variant lets you turn during a charge at 10th lv That looks nice, however my character is already level 11, so it is a bit late for that. The around the corner charging can be set up pretty easily by the invisible always ESPing beguiler in the party. |
| BugHunter09-14-07, 09:28 AM | CS= Complete Scoundrel |
| Fabius Maximus09-14-07, 05:45 PM | That looks nice, however my character is already level 11, so it is a bit late for that. The around the corner charging can be set up pretty easily by the invisible always ESPing beguiler in the party. You could ask your DM if he (or she?) allows the retraining rules from PHB II. |
| Narthon09-14-07, 07:07 PM | Eh, no thanks, I don't want to open that door in my games, so I don't really feel asking for it is right. I like DR too. |
| Ecalsneerg09-15-07, 09:01 AM | Turning in a charge is all well and good, but if you can't actually see thrm, you can't charge them, unless of course it's explicitly stated. |
| Narthon09-15-07, 09:52 AM | The around the corner charging can be set up pretty easily by the invisible always ESPing beguiler in the party. He has been pretty useful. |
