Really simple: can I take 10 on a craft check?
I always assumed that you can't take 10 on a check when failing has some drawbacks. However reading this (http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php?p=11846808&postcount=7) it seems that you can actually take 10 when crafting.

You can take a 10 on any check if you are not threatened or distracted. You may certainly take 10 on craft checks made in a stable, unthreatened environment.

You were probably thinking of the restriction on taking 20, which is that you cannot take 20 if there is a consequence for failure.

A handy-dandy SRD link (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/skills/usingSkills.htm#taking10).

You cannot take 10 on Use Magic Device. To my knowledge, that's the only one. Since rolling a 1, or a 20, are not immediately success/failures as it is with saves and attacks, taking 10 is fine. It's actually encouraged to speed up game play.
