| Kyaran03-09-07, 05:22 PM | The DMs I know allow a Heal check to determine generally what percentage of HP are left. I don't think any of them have hard rules, it's either a result of 7 and you know they shouldn't be bleeding that much, a 23 and they need about 30% of their 70ish HP back, or it's a 14 and they're at roughly 2/3rds health. As an off-the-cuff stab at some rules... make it a Heal check DC 10+target's HD to give a nearest 1/4th estimate. Maybe increase the accuracy a bit (up the denominator by 2?) for every 5 they beat the DC by? So a check of 25 on a 4th level fighter that's at 19/32 HP gives a result of 5/8ths but a check of 16 on the same guy would only tell you ~50%. |

Anyway, anyone who's main purpose is and/or has ranks in heal is going to have a good idea how much damage someone has taken. Against NPC's, my DM usually just does the "scratched/wounded/organs falling out" description when we ask. |
