| urklore05-14-07, 09:58 PM | Is there a feat that allows a 1st level character to have a cohort (like a level 1 or 0 cohort even a commoner or expert)? |
| Dead_Weasel05-14-07, 10:01 PM | No, but there is Druid. Which pretty much wins anyway. Besides, a classed cohort at level 1 would have to be level -1, i.e. dead. |
| CryoSilver05-14-07, 10:01 PM | No. |
| NerdNumber105-14-07, 10:10 PM | Pay a hireling until you get a feat that will let you have a cohort (it could even be the same individual). Work it out with your DM. |
| katarl05-15-07, 07:47 AM | There used to be a 'companion' feat in Regdars repository that did this. |
| penchant05-15-07, 10:00 AM | Cash works wonders and henchmen are replaceable. Just don't tell them that. |

| FatMonkey1305-15-07, 01:27 PM | Or buy a slave (see Lord of Madness, may be too expensive) |
| Tenadros05-15-07, 03:41 PM | There's always the deck of many things. It has a card which gives you a lev. 4 fighter cohort. Go ahead pick a card. |
| urklore05-15-07, 04:46 PM | 'There used to be a 'companion' feat in Regdars repository that did this.' Anyone have a link for this? I have a player who wants to have a character who has a goblin cohort he rescued from a slaver camp. Sort of like a familiar or animal companion that grows as he grows. I know I can just RPG it in game, but he wants someone who can craft or repair stuff for him while he is adventuring, and help from time to time on an adventure. |
| Dead_Weasel05-15-07, 06:31 PM | Just treat the goblin as a hireling. If the player takes the Leadership feat, the goblin becomes his cohort. |
| Contrast05-15-07, 06:48 PM | If you have the Apprentice feat (DMG II page 176) and are the apprentice of an entertainer you can acquire very limited use of a cohort at first level. |
