04-24-07, 07:56 PM I read the current FAQ and did searches and so I come at last to the boards.

1. Does Class level or Effective Class Level apply to your Leadership score? If I have at 10th level character with a +4 LA (Cha 10) is his leadership score 10 or 14?

2. Can a cohort have a LA? Is his NPC gear adjusted for his level or ECL?

3. If I have a 5th level cohort and he dies and I cast raise dead on him, what level is he?

3b. Do I still have a penalty to my leadership score for having a cohort die?

4. Since my cohort has feats, can he take leadership? Are they his followers or mine by proxy?

5. Can I have a construct as a cohort?

2. I assume that it could have a race with LA since PHB says there is no limit on classes and races. But the equipment question still...

Part 6. How many cohorts can you have and how do you get them? Since 3.0 we played that leadership gets you one cohort and the number of followers listed. However careful reading (and rereading) of the sention in the DMG on cohorts and leadership does not specify one cohort and in fact makes several references to attracting multiple cohorts.

2. Can a cohort have a LA? Is his NPC gear adjusted for his level or ECL?A cohort can certainly have an LA. There are some MM entries that list LAs for "cohort only" - ie that the race is not a suitable PC but the creature can become a cohort. His gear should be as an NPC of his ECL, augmented by any gifts you give him from your treasure.

3b. Do I still have a penalty to my leadership score for having a cohort die?I don't know. Let me think about that. It's late.

4. Since my cohort has feats, can he take leadership? Are they his followers or mine by proxy?Iirc, he cannot benefit from the feat while he follows you. I wouldn't stop him from taking it for when he strikes out on his own, finally.

5. Can I have a construct as a cohort?I'm not at all sure about that. I'd allow it if the race in question has an LA.

It may be a houserule, but if it is then it is.

If you caused his death I would have to say yes. Even if you raise him you have still caused his death. It's hard for people to get over the fact that your actions ended the life of someone who trusted you with their life. Trust, once broken, is almost impossible to repair.
