I may be missing it somewhere, but I can't find how you deal with dividing treasure and cohorts? Do they claim a half share?

I'd leave it up to the player who runs the cohort. Let him distribute the wealth between his two characters as he likes. Each will come out less equipped than the other players, but there are two of them, afterall.

I guess what makes it complicated is that the main character has vow of poverty, so he's getting rid of all of his wealth.

Pages 104 an 105 of the DMG has more detailed information on cohorts, including a suggestion on how to distribute wealth. Since a cohort is supposed to be equiped as a PC of it's appropriate level, I would assume that the cohort's equipment shouldn't count against it's leader's wealth.

A cohort arrives equipped as a character at his level.
After that, it is up to the party and the PC to equip them. I do think the DMG recommends 1/2 share, but division of resources is a question for the group, not rule per se.

By the intention that I can tell, the cohort should continue to be equipped appropriately as an NPC of its level. Obviously, giving one a full share will outstrip this fairly quickly, but giving it none(as in part of a VOP share of nil) will make it entirely underpowered. I would suggest leaving it(as all treasure division normally) up to the party as a whole, but do not try to punish your VOP character for having a cohort that has gear. My guess(not having had a cohort ever) is that the half share should work out reasonably for power level, though it can be hard to judge.
