| Huzzah!05-16-07, 08:50 PM | Is there a limit to how many items can be hid on a Medium-sized humanoid with the Sleight of Hand skill? Is there some sort of cumulative penalty for each additional item I hide beyond the first? Also, would a person with no ranks in Sleight of Hand who was attempting to smuggle something illicit, say dreamlily or poison, be allowed a check if they "took 20" and hid the item in a normally inaccessible crevice? |

If one was hiding something in a crevice, I would allow them to make a hide check or a reverse search check to place the item. I don't think I would use slight of hand with that much premeditation. |

| Mystyc05-17-07, 12:03 PM | If I were going to institute a cumulative SoH penalty for hid items, it wouldn't kick in until at least item number four. There are enough different places you can hide something on your body that you can have several things before it starts to add up. As for the whole...other thing, I wouldn't even have checks. If the searcher doesn't check that area, they don't find it. If they do look there, they do find it (or maybe give a Search DC 10). Ability doesn't matter as much as action in this situation. |
| ElberethSilverleaf05-19-07, 03:43 PM | I was responding to his signature, not the actual post. But one possible way around customs is to swallow a tiny bag of holding, filled with contraband, go through customs and to the safe house and let nature take it's course. hehehe |
| InkBlot05-19-07, 04:02 PM | Be sure to cast Resist Energy (Acid) on the bag before swallowing it! |
| ElberethSilverleaf05-19-07, 04:09 PM | Be sure to cast Resist Energy (Acid) on the bag before swallowing it! VERY true lol. |
| InkBlot05-19-07, 04:23 PM | <pedant> Actually it's not true at all. Resist Energy can only be cast creatures. </pedant> Yeah! LOL! Isn't there a Warforged component that puts an extradimensional space in their chest? You know, like Bender? I'd probably only call for a Sleight Of Hand check if the character were trying to very quickly stash their cache up their [donkey]. Like if they were smoking while doing #2 in a lavatory, and a city guard walked in. I'm starting to think this thread should be moved to the Mature board. If nothing else, it would let us lighten up on the euphemisms. |
| ElberethSilverleaf05-20-07, 09:05 AM | If you want ANY thread moved to the mature boards start using the words gay, lesbian (as in the latest spider queen series) or tranny. Never mind that there ARE 11 & 12 yrold gay tranny and lesbians gleefully playing D&D. |
| tyrecian05-21-07, 06:31 PM | in answer to your second question (first is a DM call, i would think, and usually is going to get the DM's friend +2 to DC past the first) SoHand is a trained only skill, and so a person with no ranks could NOT take a 20 and do this. Best advice would be to come up with a smuggling way that did not have a way of immediate detection. Usually the Heward's Handy Haversack can work. Just call the item by another name, I.e. if you are putting in a kilo of coke, then make the command word making it rise to the top "ginger-bread man" etc. If customs is rediculously magical and has detection properties that can see into a HHH, then i would suggest polymoph any object, although true seeing will get you caught (of course there are few places where such precautions are taken, and those places are best snuck inot period so you can kill anyone who sees you anyways). |
| ElberethSilverleaf05-21-07, 08:03 PM | Unless you're trying to enter a mythal with special restrictions or a magically guarded area, load yourself down with high value contraband and use a simple teleport spell or scroll.... |
