How dose the Combat Expertise feat stack with Fighting Defensively? dose it work like: i take -4 to BAB and get +4 Doge for the feat and +2 for fighting defensively?

on a side note, with the feats Shield Charge and Shield Slam from CW, can i use Shield Slam ability at the same time as the charge? and is this feat chain good or not??

For the first one, it's -8 to get +6 to AC with Combat Expertise and fighting defensively.

The other one I don't know.

I always thought of CE replacing fighting defensively, but I suppose there's nothing in the rules that says otherwise.

You can charge someone with a Shield Slam, and Shield Charge triggers when a hit someone with your shield in a charge, so you could. Since SC is a prereq for SS, it should have been clarified, though.

Well, -9 to hit for +8 AC isn't always bad... since you're still fighting (and you can conceivably hit, even if only on a natural 20) it beats all-out defense (maximum +6 AC)...

(-5 to hit for maximum expertise, -4 for fighting defensively, +3 AC for fighting defensively with ranks in tumble, +5 AC for maximum expertise)

And some class ability works when you fight on the defensive, so you can combine these effect for a crazy dodge bonus to AC. For example, a Duelist could move, spring attack and get a +26 dodge bonus to AC vs AoO, or fight on the defensive and get +18 (for a -9 AB). A Khalastar Soulknife could take advantage of the tactical feat Dance with Shadow (or something like that) to get a nice bonus to AC every round without being penalised to hit, and get whooping high if he has improved combat expertise (like in the +19 dodge bonus to AC every round combining both).

.
It states in the 3.5 D&D PHB that you can combine combat expertise with fighting defensively under fighting defensively. However, it does not state it in the SRD (and gives the impression of replacing). You can't stack Combat expertise with full defense because you are not using the standard or the full attack option. :weep:
