| vagabonvoid03-17-08, 11:41 PM | I have been playing d&d3.x, D20M, and SWRPG since 2002 and every DM I have known until now (including myself) interpreted that combat reflexes as... "If a character provokes an attack of opportunity from me and I have combat reflexes (with dex mod of +3) I would get my usual attack plus 3 more attacks of opportunity against that target." ...this makes the Improved trip/combat reflexes combo work and viable. Unfortunately, I have a *very new DM in my circle that interprets it as the limit of attacks you can make per round is raised, but there is still a 1 attack per target limit. I need to know; have I and the 4 other DMs I play with been full of Fail for the last 6 years or is this guy who just started playing 2 months ago right??? |

You get one AOO per opportunity. With combat reflexes you may take more AOOs during the round, but no more than 1 per opportunity. For example if a wizard moves out of a square threatened by you into another square you threaten and then casts a spell (not defensively) he would provoke for the movement (assuming it's more than a 5' adjust) and he would also provoke for casting a spell. With combat reflexes (and a Dex of 12 or higher) you would be able to attack him once for the movement and then once for the casting. You would not be able to attacking him multiple times for the movement, nor would you be able to attack him multiple times for casting the spell. -James |

Some of the older d20 (not WOTC) books we have don't have that sentence in the description. Thank your 3rd party for corrupting my mind... Sorry for making myself look ignorant, thanks again. |
