| Kratch10-17-07, 03:00 AM | I seem to remember a feat that allows one to maintain concentration (with a difficult skill check) on an illusion while still performing other things (such as casting other spells). Can someone please dirrect me to which book and the name of the feat, I'd appreciate it. |
| runestar10-17-07, 04:25 AM | There is a feat in complete adventurer? that lets you maintain concentration as a move or even swift action if you succeed at a concentration check. |
| goawayugh10-17-07, 02:49 PM | Extraordinary Concentration (CAd). It lets you mantain concentraion as a move action. However you can't cast another spell while maintaining concentration on another one. |

| goawayugh10-18-07, 01:39 PM | Forgot about the possible swift action part. And, no you can't.Duration (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicOverview/spellDescriptions.htm#duration) ... Concentration The spell lasts as long as you concentrate on it. Concentrating to maintain a spell is a standard action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity. Anything that could break your concentration when casting a spell can also break your concentration while you’re maintaining one, causing the spell to end. You can’t cast a spell while concentrating on another one. Sometimes a spell lasts for a short time after you cease concentrating. Also PHB p. 176. What Extraordinary Concentration does is free up a standard or full round action for you to do anything other than cast another spell. Move, drink a potion, activate a wand, attack. Anything but casting a spell. |

You're right in that the actual feat description doesn't actually override that line in the PHB, but that was clearly the intention of the writers. |
| deathbane10-20-07, 08:54 AM | You can concentrate as a swift action if you beat the check by more than 10, and you it says you can not concentrate on more than one spell, but it says nothing about you not being able to cast a spell that does not require concentration. |
| goawayugh10-20-07, 10:39 AM | You're right in that the actual feat description doesn't actually override that line in the PHB, but that was clearly the intention of the writers. Huh. That line is not in the 'benefit' section of the feat, so I never noticed it (I often don't read the fluff text before the 'prerequisite' section on feats). Ok, I concede. You're right. |
| FrostHammer10-20-07, 03:44 PM | If the spell doesn't let you cast while concentrating on an Illusion, then it'd be WORHTLESS. Thank god it does though. |
