| Operation_Shoestring12-15-07, 06:24 AM | I remember hearing about a feat that allowed you to convert sneak attack die to +2 to hit. Anyone know what it was? |
| coston8912-15-07, 02:44 PM | I don't know if there is a feat like that but why would you take one like it? Giving up SA to hit more, what rogue would get this? |
| CryoSilver12-15-07, 02:47 PM | Well, if you can choose how much SA to give up, a TWFing roguemight want this to get a better chance to land more hits, presuming the chance to hit offsets the reduced damage output. This ability trades 3.5 damage for 2 to hit; a slightly worse ratio than Power Attack with a 2 handed weapon. |
| Hanzo18712-15-07, 03:03 PM | The Feat's called Precise Strike. It's in Dragon Magazine, issue 310, and it lets you give up any number of SA dice for an attack bonus. That's probably what you're looking for, but I wouldn't recommend taking it. |

It'd make ambush feats completely awesome. Depending on the rogue build that could be a painful number of debuffs per round at superb accuracy. Screw SA damage. The fighter can kill it after i've reduced it to impotency. |

Immediately, that isn't very balanced. +2 per 1d6 means you effectively turn a rogue into a Full BAB +1 class who retains all the other rogue benefits. You sure it wasn't +3 per 2d6? That is if it exists at all. |
| InkBlot12-20-07, 12:08 PM | I don't see how it would be overpowered. Rogues don't have much besides Sneak Attack and lots of skills. Rangers have full BAB and only 2 fewer skill points than the Rogue. Take away the Ranger's higher hit die, animal companion, spells, and second good save. Wouldn't this poor creature deserve 2 more skill points and a few more class skills? That's what you'd have from trading a Rogue's Sneak Attack for attack bonus. Actually, it's worse than that. The attack bonus isn't actually Base Attack Bonus. It doesn't give you extra attacks, and it only applies against dex-less or flanked foes. I think it's a fair feat. |

And with the right ambush feats and TWF, i can be a Debuffer rogue rather than just a damage dealer. |
| Sinfire Titan12-22-07, 02:52 AM | The feat has been mentioned, but I might add that it requires you to reduce all of your Sneak Attacks that round by the amount you add to your attack rolls. Somewhat limits the Ambush feat application. |

Somewhat limits the Ambush feat application. The idea is to totally throw SA damage out the window, and act as a pocket-debuff-mage. Win initiative with your high dex and then hit enemies with uber accurate debuff strikes. So when your fighter ally's turn comes up, he chews right through the now gimped enemy. Or you can apply full SA damage the next round. |
| MrCustomer12-23-07, 07:57 PM | The most obvious benifit is for hitting creatures with significantly high enough AC that it's better to try and land any attack rather then miss your Sneak Attack. Sometimes you have to run with the statistics. Conversely there are many creatures that are imune to Sneak Attacks, like the Undead, the rogue looses nothing by trading off Sneak Attack that cannot land. |
| InkBlot12-24-07, 02:40 AM | I haven't seen the feat, but I assume that you have to actually be able to use Sneak Attack in order to be able to trade it for attack bonus. Since it's impossible to Sneak Attack undead, you wouldn't be able to trade for the hit bonus. On the other hand, I don't think ruling the other way is so bad. Kind of depends on the prerequisites, I guess. |

Kind of depends on the prerequisites, I guess. As long as the attack qualifies for a Sneak Attack, you can use the feat. It all depends on the argument. I, for one, would say that if it can be a target of a sneak attack, then it could be affected regardless of it's immunity to the damage. Something like Improved Uncanny Dodge would negate the feat however. At least, IMO. |
| Rulebook12-26-07, 02:24 AM | yeah, you still deal the sneak attack dice to the undead and constructs... they're just immune to the damage from them. its like the burst effects. but hells yeah i'd take the feat. OH NOES -2d6 at higher levels is really gonna hurt, especially when that +4 bonus to hit makes me land 2 more sneak attacks! |
| elonin12-26-07, 07:51 AM | There is a feat I recall seeing in a core book. Give up 2d6 of sneak attack and the strikee gets it's ac reduced by 5. My twf rogue will take that every day. And since this reduces the ac for all of my allies it is the gift that keeps on giving. |
