I play a lot of magic users, and I've never been entirely clear on the rules regarding the taking of weapon focus/specialization (whatever) feats for magic users. I know in CA it mentions that you can take Weapon Focus with ranged touch spells or touch spells.

So I have a couple of questions:
1: If you take weapon focus (rays/ranged touch) does that only count for ray spells (i.e. Ray of Enfeeblement) or does it count for any spell that involves a ranged touch attack (i.e. Orb of Acid)?

2: I think I recall reading something that allows magic users to take Weapon Spec. with rays/ranged touch and touch spells, but for the life of me I can't recall where it was. So if it does exist, letting me know where would be nice. If not, then I'm a lunatic....what else is new. :P

3: If magic users are allowed to take Weapon Foc. & Spec feats doesn't it stand to reason that they'd be allowed to take the greater versions of both of them as well? Or does is that going to far into the sacred realm of the melee combatants?

Anyway, any help is wonderful and appreciated as always.
Cheers,

I believe as long as you have the ability to cast at least one "ray" spell, and the pre-requisite number of levels in Fighter, you can take Weapon Spec (ray), Greater Weapon Focus (ray), and Greater Weapon Spec. (ray) if you want to. I don't think I WOULD do that, at least not with a level <20 character, but you CAN.

Oh, and a "ray" spell is any spell whose description synopsis says "Effect: ray" in it. The name of the spell is not the deciding factor.
