Craft Wands vs. Warlock [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-16-08, 04:49 PM I was wondering which Spell Level you actually consider when crafting a Wand. Since the Feat states that you can use any 4th Lvl Spell you know it seemed clear to me that you can Craft a Wand of Flame Strike if you are a Druid and have this Feat because its a 4th Lvl Spell for you.
But then a friend of mine asked how this works for the Imbue Item class feature of the Warlock.
Since he "knows" every Spell for crafting a wand, the Question is which Spell Lvl these Spells have.
Is it the Spell Lvl of the Wizard Spell List? And if it is, why are Bards using their own Spell List Lvls and not the ones of the Wizard Spell List.
I searched the Forums and tried to find the answer in the Books and Faq etc. but couldn't find an answer.

03-16-08, 06:02 PM The warlock can use any spell on any spell list to create the wand (in effect, the warlock gets to choose which level the spell is). All he/she has to do is pass the UMD check.

So its possible for him to Craft a Wand of Dominate Person choosing the Bard Spell List but not a Wand of Time Stop because its never a 4th Lvl spell or lower. Am I right?

Unless, the Warlock finds a Prc/class *somewhere out there, that has as a 4th level spell Time Stop.

Example, as a 1st level spell Bull Strength can be made by a Warlock due to a few Prc grant that as a 1st level spell not a 2nd (Sand Shaper is a example).

Also Ranger grants some spells lower level than Cleric. Ezample protection from energy is a 2nd level spell for Rangers so a Warlock could create a 2nd level spell wand of Protection of Energy.
Resist Energy is 1st Ranger (a really good wand).

Though, remember, divine spells has a higher check to mimic for crafting with Imbue.

I'm pretty sure than when not specified, thae level of the spell is the level used by the class highest on this list: Wizard/Sorceror>Cleric>Druid>Bard>Paladin>Ranger>Assassin>other classes.

So dominate would still be a 5th level spell for you, and not available to be made into a wand.

Sorry, but this assertion isn't actually based on anything. The others were right, you use whatever list you want to use.
