| Itahi09-27-07, 05:53 PM | Hey, recently I started a Cryomancer (Wizard variant based off a W.O.W. Frost Mage) in a campaign with a friend of mine and I decided to add flair with a Craft/Profession combo, in this case Gem-cutting/Jeweler, but to my dismay there are no rules on creating cut gems :weep: . So I made a DC chart or whatever you want to call it. DC System Example of how this works. PC wants to create a Regular Medium Hawk's Eye, therefor S=4, and L=2. so 4+2+10+4 = 20 Craft DC Worth DC (s = size) (L = level) 1 Chipped x.25 S+2(L)+10+0 2 Flawed x.5 S+2(L)+10+2 3 Regular x1 S+2(L)+10+4 4 Flawless x1.25 S+2(L)+10+6 5 Perfect x1.5 S+2(L)+10+8 6 Unique** x2* S+2(L)+10+10 * If your reputation is high x 2.5 ** If you are able to craft Unique Gems customers might ask you to create a custom piece that costs 5x normal price *** Yes I used the gem system in Diablo II as a base (don't sue me) Gem Size (Determined when incorporated into loot or whatever) Gem Size +DC Value Tiny 1 .25 Small 2 .5 Medium 4 1 Large 5 1.25 Huge 7 1.5 Gigantic 9 2x Gem Templates. This is used to advance a particular Gemstone's levels to potentially create more expensive gems or for flair or whatever you want really. Set gem, a set gem is a gemstone that is ready for placement in or on a piece of jewelry or socket. Star, star creates a gem that when peered through at a parallel to a light source creates an X of light in it (See Star of Bombay) Star/sunburst, Shaping the lower faces of the gem in a specific fashion creates a dazzling explosion in the gem when looked at (This is hard to explain ill find a picture later) Shaped, turns the gem into a statuette or something similar (earrings, a brooch, clasp, statue, cup, vase etc.) Focusing, Turns the gem into a focusing crystal that can be used as a part of a mechanical or magical effect (PC: I Searing Ray the Diamond. DM: OK, the ray explodes into 12 little rays that deal 1 point of damage each to everyone in the room. PC:  Sweet.) OK the fun part the gems themselves (Note: all Gems were found on page 55 of the DMG) ___________________________ Key: W/A Weapon/Armor Smith JC Jewelry Crafter Alch Alchemist Bow Bower Craft Misc.
